Falcons earn votes in football polls
The Bowling Green State University football team received votes in both major polls Sunday.
The Falcons, 10-3 overall, are 32nd in the Associated Press poll with 10 points, and 32nd in the USA Today coaches poll with 12 points.
The polls are on page 12.
Powers shoots 296
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Caroline Powers finished with an 8-over-par 296 total in the final stage of the LPGA Qualifying Tournament.
She had a 73 in Saturday's fourth round and did not make the 72-hole cut, which was at 291.
Owens women's basketball win
Owens Community College women's basketball team beat Kirtland Community College 84-51.
The Express were led by Kamilah Carter who had 17 points and seven assists. Other leaders for Owens were: Paige Wright, 15 points, five rebounds; and Kheri Motley, 11 points, seven rebounds.
Owens has won 12 straight games and is 12-1.
BG track opens season
KENT - Bowling Green's Jeanette Pettigrew finished second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.62 at the Golden Flash Gala Saturday.
Her time met the Mid-American Conference automatic qualifying mark.
BG swimming competes
KNOXVILLE, Tenn.-Bowling Green State University's swimming team competed at the USA Swimming AT&T Winter National Championships, but didn't have any swimmers advance to the finals.
