Falcon men tie Marshall
HUNTINGTON, W. a, — Marshall scored in the 88th minute to gain a 1-1 overtime tie with Bowling Green State University’s men’s soccer team in a nonconference game.
Danny Baraldi scored BG’s goal on a penalty kick. Michael Wiest made three saves for the Falcons.
BG is 1-4-3.
Ohio beats BG women
ATHENS — Kaitlyn Tobin scored in the first half for Bowling Green women’s soccer team, but Ohio University scored three times in the second half to post a 3-1 Mid-American Conference win.
BG’s Lauren Cadel made seven saves.
BG is 0-7-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the MAC.
Owens volleyball wins
PIQUA — Owens Community College’s volleyball improved to 4-1 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference Friday with a 25-15, 25-13, 28-26 win over Edison State.
Owens’ leaders were: Jazmine Thomas, 14 kills, five blocks; Lisa Urbanski, 25 digs, three aces; Ciarra Wirick, 22 assists; Jessica Cooper, 17 assists; and Eastwood High School graduate Aricka LaVoy, 14 digs, one ace.
Owens is 10-10 overall.
BG boys travel basketball planned
The Bowling Green travel basketball program has set tryouts for teams in the fourth, fifth, and sixth grades. The season runs from mid-October through mid-March.
The tryouts are: Oct. 7, and Oct. 8 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the BG Community Center, and Oct. 12 from 10 a.m.-noon at the Schmidthorst Pavilion at BGSU’s Stroh Center. Players are encouraged, but not required, to attend all three tryouts.
A parent meeting is Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. in the Bowling Green Middle School cafeteria. Attendance at the meeting is not required, but encouraged.
