BG men’s soccer ties
Bowling Green’s men’s soccer team held a 35-12 edge in shots Friday, but settled for a scoreless double-overtime tie against Ohio State at Cochrane Field.
Michael Wiest had 12 saves for BG, 1-2-2. OSU is 2-2-1.
The match drew a Cochrane Field record crowd of 3,126.
Falcon volleyball loses
MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin-Milwaukee was a 25-16, 26-24, 25-21 winner Friday over Bowling Green’s volleyball team in the Wisconsin Invitational.
BG’s leaders were: Lindsey Butterfield, 14 kills, four blocks; Jelena Sunjic, 16 kills; Erica Fullenkamp, 29 assists; Madeline Garda, 10 kills; and BGHS graduate Ashley Dunn, 17 digs.
BG is 1-5 overall, while W-M is 4-4.
BG women’s soccer loses
EAST LANSING, Mich, — Michigan State scored twice in the final 30 minutes to pull away from a 1-1 tie on the way to a 3-1 women’s college soccer win over Bowling Green.
Kaitlyn Tobyn scored for BG, assisted by Madeline Wideman.
Lauren Cadel had six saves for BG, 0-4 overall. MSU is 5-0-2.
Falcon CC teams compete
Bowling Green’s men’s and women’s cross country teams hosted the Mel Brodt Invitational Friday. No team scores were kept.
The top five individuals for BG’s men’s were: Tim Jurick, 15th, 26:21; Joe van Bolderen, 28th, 26:58; Nathan Kuck, 36th, 27:42; Ben Shaffer, 37th, 27:45; and Riley Kuess, 38th, 27.53.
The top five individuals for BG’s women were: Perrysburg High School graduate Andrea Alt, 18th, 17:59; Rebecca Rae, 21st, 18:01; Amanda Garlak, 23rd, 18:03; MacKenzie McMillin, 28th, 18:22; and Rachel Durbin, 38th, 18:39.
Falcon volleyball loses
MADISON, Wis. - The Bowling Green State University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches in the Inn Towner Invitational Saturday at the University of Wisconsin. The Falcons are 1-7.
Wisconsin posted a 25-20, 25-15, 25-20 win over the Falcons.
BG's leaders were: Lindsey Butterfield, 11 kills; Erica Fullenkamp. 23 assists, eight digs; and Ashley Dunn, from Bowling Green High School, 12 digs.
Tournament champion Kansas beat Bowling Green, 25-22, 22-25, 25-18, 23-25, 15-8.
BG's leaders were: Butterfield, 22 kills; Paige Penrod, 20 kills, 13 digs; Jelena Sunjic, 13 kills; Fullerkamp, 59 assists, 11 digs; Dunn, 24 digs; Madeline Garda, 14 digs; and Libby Dachenhaus, 13 digs.
Butterfield was named to the all-tournament team. She had 47 kills in the tournament.
Owens men's soccer wins twice
DONALDSON, Ind. - Jacob Martin had a goal and an assist and Agustin Bonjour each had two assists as the Owens Community College men's soccer team beat Ancilla College, 3-1 on Sunday.
On Saturday, Martin scored on a penalty kick in the 80th minute to tie the game and scored again in overtime to help Owens beat Morton College, 2-1.
Owens is 7-1 overall.
Express women's soccer wins
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Jessica Grindle, from Northwood High School, Lacee Ortman and Brittany Powell each scored two goals as the Owens Community College women's soccer team beat the Indiana Tech junior varsity, 9-2 on Sunday.
Grindle seven goals this fall.
Tara Preble, from Lake High School, had an assist in the game.
Owens is 4-2 overall.
Owens volleyball splits
Columbus State beat Owens Community College's volleyball team, 25-16, 25-20, 25-23 on Saturday to end the Express' 36-match winning streak in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference matches.
Owens beat Jackson State, 24-26, 25-18, 25-19, 26-24 in Saturday's second match.
