Hopson to be inducted into
Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame
COLUMBUS — Bowling Green Falcon men’s assistant coach Dennis Hopson will be inducted into the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame next year, the school announced Friday. He was one of 14 inductees
Beginning his fifth year as an assistant coach at BG, Hopson was a standout player at Toledo Bowsher before going on to Ohio State.
At OSU, Hopson was Big Ten Conference player of the year in 1987 and finished his career as the all-time leading scorer in program history.
Hopson was the No. 3 overall pick in the 1987 NBA Draft, playing three seasons with the team that drafted him, the New Jersey Nets.
He averaged 15.8 points per game in the 1989-90 season and was then traded to the Chicago Bulls, where he was a member of the 1991 NBA champions.
He was traded to Sacramento in the 1991-92 season and played 69 games with the Kings before the end of his NBA career.  He went on to play seven years overseas before retiring in 1999.

Losby, Hammer honored by MAC
CLEVELAND — Bowling Green’s T.J. Losby and Elmwood High School graduate Ben Hammer of Toledo were named to the Mid-American Conference all-academic baseball team, the conference announced Friday.
Losby has a 3.285 grade-point average in accounting. Hammer has a 3.90 gpa in exercise science.
Eight BG players were named to the honorable mention list.
They were: Cody Apthorpe, 3.754, middle childhood education; Brandon Howard, 3.29, adolescent/young adult education; Andrew Kubuski, 3.612, mild-moderate intervention specialist; Jason Link, 3.314, sport management; Ethan McKenney, 3.344 finance; Ben Singer, 3.678, biology; Jake Thomas, 3.277, health science; and Logan Walker, 3.277, exercise science.
Two Perrysburg High School graduates —  Taylor Dimmerling of Eastern Michigan and Alec Schmenk of Toledo — also received honorable mention.
Dimmerling has a 3.68 gpa in biology. Schmenk has a 3.48 gpa in construction engineering technology.
