Powers tied for eighth
SARASOTA, FLA. — Caroline Powers, a graduate of Bowling Green High School, is tied for eighth after the
first round of the Guardian Retirement Championship at Sara Country Club. The tournament is a Symetra
Tour event.
Yueer Cindy Feng leads the field with a 3-under par 69.
Powers is one of nine players at even par 72.
Falcon softball loses twice
Central Michigan’s softball team improved to 31-15 overall and 9-5 in the Mid-American Conference Friday
with a 6-5, 5-3 sweep of Bowling Green (29-27-1, 6-10) at Meserve Field.
In the first game, Central scored four times in the third and once in the seventh to erase a 5-1 deficit.
BG’s Katie Yoho hit a solo home run.
In the second game, Central scored four times in the fifth to pull away from a 1-1 tie. Aspen Searle was
2-for-4 with a run and an RBI for BG.
BG women’s golf last
in MAC golf tourney
FISHERS, Ind. — Bowling Green’s women’s golf team is in last place after Friday’s first round of the
Mid-American Conference tournament at The Hawthorns Golf & Country Club.
Kent State leads the nine-team tournament with a 296 total, while BG shot 330.
BG’s scores were: Lily Bartell, tied for 26th, 81; Shelby Wilson, tied for 30th, 82; Bailey Arnold, tied
for 33rd, 83rd; and Patricia Holt, tied for 36th, 84.
EMU beats Falcon tennis
OXFORD — Eastern Michigan beat the Bowling Green State University tennis team, 4-0 in the quarterfinal
round of the Mid-American Conference tournament Friday.
The Falcons finish the season 10-9 in dual meets.
