Falcon softball loses twice
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Bowling Green’s softball team had only five hits, all singles, in a 4-2, 5-0 doubleheader loss Friday to Central Michigan.
In the first game, Central scored twice in both the third and fifth innings to take a 4-0 lead, and then off a late BG rally. BG had just three hits.
The Falcons had two hits in Game 2 as Central scored twice in the third and three times in the fifth.
BG is 21-17 overall and 5-9 in the Mid-American Conference East Division. Central is 24-12, 10-2 MAC West.

BG baseball postponed
Friday’s Bowling Green Falcon baseball game against Akron at Steller Field was postponed because of rain and wind.
The game will be made up Saturday at 12:30 p.m. as part of a doubleheader.
BG coach Danny Schmitz enters the weekend with 599 career wins.

Falcons’ Gates
honored by MAC
CLEVELAND — Bowling Green’s Wes Gates is the Mid-American Conference men’s golfer of the week.
Gates won the Mount St. Mary’s Invitational with a score of 213, shooting rounds of 67, 71 and 75. The win was Gates’ third of the season, setting the BG record for wins in a season. He’s tied with Matt Schneider for the most career victories.

BG-Perrysburg
games postponed
Friday’s Perrysburg at Bowling Green baseball and softball games were postponed because of the weather.

Owens softball sweeps
XENIA — Owens Community College’s softball team improved to 18-10 overall and 5-1 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference with a 12-3, 9-6 sweep Friday of Sinclair CC (12-10, 1-9).
In the first game, Owens’ leading hitters were: Emily Rockman, 3-for-4, two runs batted in; Melanie Iacoangeli, 2-for-4, RBI, run; Alyssa Lassey, 2-for-4, four runs; Jaylee Glad, 2-for-3, two runs; and Taylor Miller, 2-for-2, home run, three RBI.
In the second game, Owens’ leading hitters were: Iacoangeli, 3-for-4, three runs, RBI; Olivia Reeder, 1-for-2, three RBI; and Butler, 2-for-4, run, two RBI.
Kaitlyn Turski was the winning pitcher in both games.
