Lane breaks own record
Nick Lane, from Bowling Green High School, broke his own national freshman weight throw record Friday
with a 65-2 1/2 effort.
He competes Saturday at the OATCCC Indoor State Championships at the University of Akron.
Five Falcon swimmers earn All-MAC honors
GENEVA – Bowling Green State University freshman Victoria Griffin was named All-Mid-American Conference
swimming first-team.
BG’s Daniela Carrillo, Emily Waller, Joelle Scheps and Jordan Bullock were named to the second team.
The Falcons finished third in the MAC meet with 479 points. Akron won the meet with 574 points.
BG secured third in the standings by finishing second in the 400 freestyle relay in a school record time
of 3:20.49. Griffin, Brittany Szekely, Scheps and Hannah Newman swam the relay.
Also, Griffin was second in the 100 freestyle, finishing in a school-record 49.83. Scheps was second in
the 200 breast stroke (2:12.58).
In all, BG broke six school records and tied another during the MAC meet.
The Falcons will now await word on whether any of their swimmers qualified for the NCAA championships,
March 20-22 in Minneapolis, Minn.
BG’s Pettigrew wins 60 at MAC meet
KENT – Jeanette Pettigrew became the first Bowling Green State University women’s runner to win the 60 at
the Mid-American Conference indoor meet Saturday.
A senior, Pettigrew finished in 7.53 seconds to edge Eastern Michigan’s Aaliyah McKinney by .01 seconds.

In addition to her win in the 60, Pettigrew set a school record in the 200, running a 24.18 to finish
second.
Pettigrew also ran on the 1,600 relay team which finished seventh.
Freshman Makenzie Wheat was sixth in the shot put (48.9).
As a team, the Falcons finished in a tie for eighth with 38 points after finishing 11th last season.
Falcon baseball loses twice
ATLANTA – Georgia Tech rallied for an 8-5 win over the Bowling Green Falcon baseball team Sunday. The
Falcons are 2-7 on the season.
Top hitters for BG were: Patrick Lancaster, 2-for-4, two RBI; and Logan Walker, 2-for-4.
On Saturday, Tech was an 8-3 winner. Jeremy Shay, Lancaster and Greg Basalyga each had two hits for BG.
Shay hit a two-run homer in the first inning, giving BG a 2-0 lead.
Owens men earn tie for title
DAYTON – The 10th-ranked Owens Community College’s men’s basketball team earned a share of the Ohio
Community College Athletic Conference title Saturday with a 104-99 win over Sinclair CC.
Owens, 24-5 overall and Cincinnati State both were 11-1 in the OCCAC. Sinclair is 21-8, 6-6.
John Murry led Owens with 22 points, while Bikramjit Gill added 20 points and 15 rebounds, and Shaakir
Lindsey had 12 points and 14 assists.
Owens opens district tournament play Friday with a rematch against Sinclair. The winner advances to the
district championship game the next day. The tournament is at Ohio Christian University in Circleville.

BGSU gymnasts lose
DENTON, Texas – Texas Women’s University beat the Bowling Green State University gymnastics team,
194-250-193.325 Saturday.
For the Falcons, Gina Locigno won the all-around with a 38.825 and Megan Harrington won both floor and
beam, scoring a 9.850 and a 9.750 respectively. Lauren Feely had the top score on vault with a 9.800.

Owens women win
DAYTON – Zhana Randolph had 18 points to lead fifth-ranked Owens Community College’s women’s basketball
team to a 111-66 win Saturday over Sinclair CC.
The Express, who had previously clinched their third Ohio Community College Athletic Conference title in
the last four seasons, are 25-2 overall and 11-1 in the conference.
Ashley Tunstall added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Express.
Owens starts district tournament play Friday against Sinclair or Edison CC at 1 p.m. The tournament is at
Ohio Christian University in Circleville.
Owens softball wins twice
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Owens Community College softball team opened its season with 7-5 and 10-2 wins
over Lincoln Trail Sunday.
Owens’ leading hitters in the opener were: Taylor Miller, 2-for-4 RBI; Emily Rockman, 2-for-3; RBI; Josie
Hall, two RBI; Tori Weidinger, triple, RBI; and Brittany George, from Elmwood High School, RBI.
In the second game, Owens’ leaders were: George, 3-for-4, two triples, two RBI; Emily Morrow, 2-for-3,
RBI; and Hall, 2-for-4, RBI.
