Powers tied for 13th
LAKE WALES, FLA. — Caroline Powers, a Bowling Green High School graduate, is tied for 13th after the
first round of Florida’s Natural Charity Classic Friday. The event is part of the Symetra Tour.
Powers shot a 1-under par 71.
Maude-Aimee LeBlanc is the tournament leader with a 5-under par 67.
Falcons drops MAC opener
MUNCIE, Ind. — Ball State beat the Bowling Green Falcon baseball team, 9-5 Friday in the Mid-American
Conference opener for both teams.
The Falcons had 15 hits in the game, but left 13 runners on base.
Jake Thomas had three hits and an RBI for the Falcons while six other BG players each had two hits. Logan
Walker hit two doubles and drove in two runs for Bowling Green.
BG is 6-13 overall.
BGSU softball wins twice
EMMITSBURG, Md. — The Bowling Green Falcon softball team beat Mount St. Mary’s College, 1-0 and 9-5
Friday in the UMBC Spring Classic.
In the opener, Jamie Kertes pitched a three-hitter with no walks and six strike outs for the Falcons.
Aspen Searle had two of BG’s six hits and Erika Stratton drove in the only run of the game.
In the second game, Stratton was 3-for-4 with a home run, double, and four RBI. Amanda Durham had three
hits and two RBI for the Falcons and Katie Yoho had two hits.
Kertes pitched 5 2/3 innings in relief to get the win, allowing six hits and an unearned run.
BG is 8-13-1 overall.
BG men golfers tied for 14th
GOODYEAR, Ariz. — The Bowling Green State University men’s golf team is tied for 14th after two rounds of
the Desert Shootout.
The Falcons had a 5-over 293 Friday and they are at 22-over 598 for the tournament.
BG’s Chris Melvin shot an even-par 72 Friday and is 4-over 148 for the event.
Other BG scores are: Jose Narro, plus-3, 147; Ryan Triller, plus-7, 151; Joe Cooper, plus-8, 152; and
Brett Rinker, plus-10, 154.
Falcon tennis moves indoors
The Bowling Green State University tennis team’s match today against Western Michigan University will be
played at the Perrysburg Tennis Center.
Start time is at 1 p.m. for the Mid-American Conference opener for both schools.
NB has girls basketball opening
NORTH BALTIMORE — North Baltimore High School has an opening for a varsity girls basketball coach.
The Tigers are looking for a coach with varsity basketball experience.

BG Rifle Club loses
Oak Harbor beat the Bowling Green Rifle Club, 1,421-1,406. Bowling Green is now 2-15.
BG’s scorers were: Dan Altman, 291; Bob Schwiebert and Kris Link, 285 each; Jerry Milnor, 274; and
Norbert Norden 271.

Parent coordinating Owens fundraiser
The fund-raiser for Owens Express baseball player Michael Finch is being coordinated by Kelly Skender, a
parent of one of Finch’s teammates.
A story in Thursday’s Sentinel-Tribune incorrectly reported that it was Owens Community College
