Fitzwater, Miller pitch no-hitter for Falcon baseball
LAKELAND, Fla. — Brett Fitzwater and Chris Miller combined on an eight-inning no-hitter Friday, leading
the Falcon baseball team to a 7-0 win over Bucknell in the second game of a doubleheader.
Bucknell posted a 7-3 win in the first game.
The no-hitter was BG’s first since April 4, 1995 and the ninth in school history.
Fitzwater went the first five innings, striking out six and walking three. Miller finished, striking out
two.
Brian Bien had three hits and three RBI for BG, while Jeremy Shay had two hits and two RBI, and Patrick
Lancaster had two hits.
In the first game, BG had three hits, including a double by Logan Walker.
The Falcons are 6-8-1 overall, while Bucknell is 6-11.
Lessig named to MAC Hall of Fame
CLEVELAND —Jim Lessig, a former athletics director at Bowling Green State University, has been named to
the Mid-American Conference Hall of Fame.
Lessig served in a variety of roles at BGSU, including assistant basketball coach, assistant athletics
director, director of alumni affairs and executive director of alumni and development.
He was also the MAC commissioner from 1982 to 1990.
All-NLL bowling team named
Bowling Green placed five bowlers on the Northern Lakes League all-league girls and boys first teams.
Nine additional bowlers made the second and third teams from Perrysburg and Bowling Green.
For the girls, BG’s Alisha Noon led all league bowlers with her 215.3 average. Teammates Kelsey Parker
(184.26) and Gabby Calderon (184) were second and third high averages to join Noon on the first team.

Kyra Beeker (164.83) of BG and Cheyenne Kolczynski (161) of Perrysburg were second team selections, while
Kirsten Knell (151.43) of BG, and Perrysburg’s Emily Low (138.95) were on the third team.
For BG’s boys, Jacob Spangenberg who averaged 197.48 and Brian LeGalley, 195.95, received first-team
honors. Named to the second team were Zac Zam (191.43) and Justin McCamey (189.61) of Perrysburg and
Alex Noble (189.8) from Bowling Green. Placing on the third team were Austin Waller (178.61) from
Perrysburg along with BG’s Chase Ferguson (187.86) and Lucas Jenne (182.05).
Eastwood’s Rolf signs with Owens
Cassidy Rolf, a senior at Eastwod High School, has signed to play softball at Owens Community College.

A senior third baseball, Rolf helped Eastwood reach the Division III state semifinal last season. The
Eagles finished 29-4. Rolf hit .417 with 39 RBI, 19 extra-base hits and nine steals as a junior.
