Elmwood's Curtis named  honorable mention All-Ohio

COLUMBUS - Elmwood's Kristen Curtis was an honorable-mention selection on the Associated Press Division III All-Ohio girls basketball team.
The 5-foot-10 senior averaged 16.0 points and 6.6 rebounds during the regular season to help Elmwood win the Northern Buckeye Conference championship.
The Royals were 16-6 overall and 13-1 the NBC.
Liberty-Benton's Rachel Myers, who will play collegiately at Bowling Green next season, was named to the first-team.

Babers adds two to staff

Bowling Greel Falcon football coach Dino Babers has finalized his staff, with the additions of Mike Mickens and Andrew Sowder.
Mickens, who comes to BG after coaching at Idaho last season, will coach the cornerbacks.
Sowder, who was the outside receivers coach at Eastern Illinois last season under Babers, will be the director of player personnel at BG.

BG 29th in USA Today poll

The Bowling Green Falcon women's basketball team is 29th with 30 points in this week's USA Today poll.

Falcon baseball splits

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Bowling Green State University split a pair of games in the Central Florida Russ Matt Invitational Tuesday.
Illinois State beat Bowling Green, 11-3, and the Falcons topped Yale, 5-4.
In the opener, the Falcons had 10 hits with Brian Bien going 2-for-3 and Greg Basalyga hitting a solo home run.
In the win over Yale, Bien drove in the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Bein went 3-for-5 with a double, Andrew Kubuski was 2-for-4, and Basalyga hit a double.
The Falcons are 4-10 overall.

Lievendag earns MAC honor

CLEVELAND -  Bowling Green State University junior gymnast Amanda Lievendag has been named the Mid-American Conference's specialist of the week for the third time this year.
Lievendag competed in two rotations as Bowling Green posted its fourth-highest team score in program history at Kent State. She tied her career-high on vault and set a personal best on the uneven bars. Lievendag's 9.875 on vault was the best score of the meet in the event and her 9.925 on uneven bars also took first place. Her bars score was the third-highest in BG history.

Owens postpones games

The Owens Community College baseball and softball games for the remainder of the week, both home and away, have been postponed due to unplayable field conditions.

Owens women's basketball  has four on All-OCCAC teams

The Owens Community College women's basketball team had four players earn All-Ohio Community College Athletic Conference honors this season.
Kamilah Carter and Ashley Tunstall were named to the first-team, Eboni Adams was on the second-team, and Paige Wright was on the honorable mention list.


Youth hoops tourney planned

North American Youth Sports is holding a youth basketball tournament at Bowling Green High School on April 4.
There are 10 age divisions for boys and girls, from fifth grade through high school.
The entry fee is $150 and each team is guaranteed a minimum of three games. The entry deadline is Friday.

Genoa seeks  girls soccer coach

GENOA - Genoa High School is accepting applications for a head girls soccer coach.

Application deadline is March 28.
