Falcon baseball now 2-4
MURRAY, Ky. – Murray State beat the Bowling Green State University baseball team, 6-3 on Sunday. The
Falcons are 2-4 overall.
Bowling Green had 10 hits in the game and left 10 runners on base.
BG’s leading hitters were: Brian Bien, 2-for-4, RBI; T.J. Losby, 2-for-4; Andrew Kubuski, 2-for-4; and
Jesse Rait, 2-for-4, RBI.
On Saturday, BG dropped a 5-4 decision. Patrick Lancaster and Jeremy Shay each had three hits for BG, and
Logan Walker had two.
BG softball posts victory
OXFORD, Miss. – The Bowling Green State University softball team closed out play in the Red and Blue
Classic with a 2-0 win over Tennessee-Martin Sunday. BG is 4-8-1 overall.
Braiden Dillow and Jamie Kertes combined to pitch a three-hit shutout in game, with three walks and six
strikeouts.
Katie Yoho was 2-for-4 with both RBI for the Falcons and Chelsea Raker hit a double.
On Saturday, the Falcons posted a 4-2 win over Buffalo and lost an 11-1 decision to Saint Louis.
Against Buffalo, Raker, Erika Stratton, Yoho and Sami Parave each had one hit and one RBI.
Against Saint Louis, Haley Schorck and Amanda Schrock each had two hits.
Falcon gymnastics wins
The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team beat Northern Illinois 194.825-193.075 Sunday. The
Falcons are 7-5 overall and 3-1 in the Mid-American Conference. With a win over Kent State on March 6,
Bowling Green would tie for the MAC regular-season championship.
BG’s leaders were: vault, Amanda Lievendag, 9.80; bars, Lievendag and Rachel Reis, 9.85; beam, Alyssa
Nocella, 9.80; floor, Megan Harrington, 9.90; and all-around, Gina Locigno, 38.925.
UC beats Falcon tennis
CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati beat the Bowling Green State University tennis team, 4-3
Saturday. The Falcons are 4-3.
Three Falcons
compete in track
KENT – Three Bowling Green State University athletes competed in the Kent State Tune-Up Saturday.
BG’s Brooke Pleger won the weight throw with a 66-53‚Ñ4 effort. Teammate and Elmwood High School graduate
Kori Reiser was eighth with a throw of 53-1.
Also for BG, Makenzie Wheat was third in the shot put with a 49-53‚Ñ4 effort.
Gill sets blocks record
in Owens win
Bikramjit Gill blocked six shots for the Owens Community College men’s basketball team Saturday in a
94-83 win over Columbus State CC. Gill now has 59 blocks, breaking the mark of 50 set by James Kelley,
who is now playing with at the University of Miami.
Gill also had 21 points, eight rebounds and two assists, for Owens now 22-5 overall and 9-1 in the Ohio
Community College Athletic Conference.
John Murry led Owens with 28 points and added eight rebounds and six assists while Shaakir Lindsey had 14
points and eight assists.
Owens women
clinch title share
The Owens Community College women’s basketball team clinched at least a share of the Ohio Community
College Athletic Conference title with a 75-62 win or Columbus State CC. Owens is 23-2 overall and 9-1
in the OCCAC. Owens has won three of the last four conference titles.
Owens’ leaders were: Kamilah Carter, 19 points, six assists; Ashley Tunstall, 16 points, 12 rebounds;
Eboni Adams, 14 points; and Zhana Randolph, 13 points.
Pole vault safety clinic set
FINDLAY – A pole vault safety certification clinic is planned for Thursday at 7 p.m. at the University of
Findlay in the classroom just east of the indoor track
All schools are required to have one coach with this certification at all junior high and high school
practices and meets.
The cost is $10 for each coach attending the clinic.
