BGSU baseball wins in 10th
BOWLING GREEN, Ky, — Pinch-runner Patrick Lancaster scored the eventual game-winning run on an error with two out in the top of the 10th inning Friday as Bowling Green State University’s baseball team beat Western Kentucky 9-8 in its season opener.
The Falcons had an 8-1 lead after two innings.
BG’s leaders were: T.J Losby, two hits and two RBI; Brian Bien, two hits; Logan Walker, three RBI; and Matt Pitzulo, two RBI.
Nick Bruns got the win and Ben Singer earned the save.

Falcon softball wins
SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Bowling Green State University’s softball team scored a run in the bottom of the first inning and pitchers Jamie Kertes and Paris Imholz combined on a shutout as the Falcons blanked George Washington, 1-0 in the South Carolina-Upstate Spartan Invitational.
Hannah Fulk walked to lead off the first inning for the Falcon, moved to second on a wild pitch, stole third and scored on a Paige Berger ground out.
Fulk had BG’s only hit in the game.
Kertes went the first four innings, allowing one hit while striking out five. Imholz pitched the final three innings and allowed two hits, striking out three. Neither Falcon pitcher walked a batter.

BGSU runners compete
AKRON – Bowling Green State University’s Andrea Alt, a Perrysburg High School graduate, was third in the 3,000 meters in 10;13.80 at the Zips Invite Friday.
Also for BG, Tiera Parker was fifth in the 60 (7.98) and Brea Tinny was second in the 3,000 (10:12.42).

BGSU-Buffalo men’s game set for March 8
The Bowling Green State University men’s basketball game against Buffalo at the Stroh Center is March 8 with tipoff at 6 p.m.
It’s senior night and the regular-season finale.

Perrysburg hockey
holds reverse raffle, auction
PERRYSBURG —The Perrysburg high school hockey team will hold its 15th annual reverse raffle and silent suction March 9 at Graystone Hall (Knights of Columbus Hall) on Hufford Road.
The event will have a St. Patrick’s Day theme. Tickets are $75, which includes dinner and a chance to win a $5,000 prize.

Bobcat volleyball plans fundraiser
The Bowling Green High School Bobcat volleyball team is planning a spaghetti dinner Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at the Ice Arena Lounge. The cost is $7 for the fundraiser.

Burton wins CCHA contest
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. — Terry Burton is Bowling Green’s winner in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association’s Celebrate the Legacy Super Fan contest.
Burton has been a season-ticket holder for the Falcons since his graduation from the university 1992.
He has attended nearly every BG home game over the last 25 years and has also traveled to many away contests, including 14 non-conference campuses.
Burton has also served on various fundraising and service committees, including the Falcon Club Advisory Board.
Burton was also honored by the team in 2004 with the Dr. Thomas Wojciechowski Award for Distinguished Service to the Hockey Program.
Burton’s prize package includes a trip to the CCHA Championships in Detroit next month.
