Falcon softball goes 0-4
CLEVELAND – The Bowling Green State University softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader on
Sunday.
Playing in the final day at the CSU Dome Invitational, the Falcons (0-4) fell to Bucknell University 2-0
in game one, and 4-2 to Canisius College.
The Falcons had only two hits in the loss to Bucknell.
Against Canisus, BG had two hits and both of its run were unearned.
The Falcons lost twice Saturday, 5-3 to Cleveland State and 3-2 to Robert Morris in eight innings.
Against CSU, Erika Stratton was 2-for-3 with a solo home run for BG, and Aspen Searle and Chelsea Raker
also had solo homers.
Against RMU, Raker was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
BG track wins two events
AKRON – Bowling Green’s track and field team won two events Saturday in the Akron Invitational.
Lindsay Kaatz won the mile in 5:14.98 and Tina Perrine threw 60-4 to win the weight throw.
Falcon women’s tennis splits
PERRYSBURG – The Bowling Green Falcon women’s tennis team defeated Illinois-Chicago, 5-2 Sunday. BG is
3-1.
The Falcons dropped a 5-2 decision to Michigan State on Saturday.
BG swimmers posts win
Bowling Green’s swimming team improved to 6-3 overall with a 171-110 win Saturday over Youngstown State
at Cooper Pool.
Daniela Carrillo won the 100 breast stroke in 64.65 and the 200 breast in 2:18.81.
BG’s other individual winners were: Hannah Albion, 1,000 freestyle, 10:32.93; Victoria Griffin, 200 free,
1:50.53; Jordan Bullock, 200 butterfly, 2:05.95; Brittany Szekely, 50 free, 23.63; Joelle Scheps, 100
free, 52.15; Eric Nieminen, 200 backstroke, 2:05.72; Emily Waller, 500 free, 5:05.50; and Haley Roberts,
100 fly, 58.13.
BG’s 200 medley relay team of Maya Skorupski, Carrillo, Scheps and Szekely won in 1:46.58.
Falcon gymnasts lose
The Bowling Green Falcon gymnastics team posted their best score in nine years, but dropped a
196.500-195.550 decision to Central Michigan Sunday. The Falcons are 5-4 overall and 3-1 in the
Mid-American Conference.
Leading the Falcons were: Amanda Lievendag and Lauren Feely, each 9.875 on the vault; Alyssa Nocella,
9.775 on the bars; Gina Locigno, 9.850 on the beam; Locigno and Nocelle, each 9.850 on the floor; and
Locigno, 39.075 all-around,
Owens men post victory
Thirteenth-ranked Owens Community College’s men’s basketball team posted a 116-92 win over Saturday over
Sinclair CC.
John Murry led Owens with 28 points, followed by Shaakir Lindsey with 22 points and Bikramjit Gill with
20 points
Murry also had five rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Lindsey added 12 assists and five
rebounds, and Gill had 10 rebounds.
The Express, who have won seven straight and 13th of their last 14, are 19-4 overall and 6-0 in the Ohio
Community College Athletic Conference.
Owens women triumph
Owens Community College’s women’s basketball team, ranked 10th nationally, posted a 113-59 win Saturday
over Sinclair CC.
Ashley Sturnstall led Owens with 22 points, going 10-of-12 from the field. Kamilah Carter added 19 points
for the Express.
Owens is 19-2 overall and 5-1 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference.
