Bobcat hockey ranked ninth
COLUMBUS - Bowling Green was ranked ninth in the first state high school hockey coaches poll of the season announced Monday night.
The Bobcats received 22 points in the coaches voting. The poll is elsewhere on this page.
BGHS hosts hockey tourney
Bowling Green will host the Mister Spots Invitational high school hockey tournament Friday through Sunday in the Ice Arena. The schedule:
• Friday: Cincinnati Moeller vs. North Royalton, 615 p.m.; and Bowling Green vs. St. Francis, 8:15 p.m.
• Saturday: BG vs. North Royalton, 10:10 a.m.; St. Francis vs. Moeller, 12:10 p.m.; North Royalton vs. St. Francis 5:30 p.m.; and BG vs. Moeller, 7:30 p.m.
• Sunday: Consolation game, 11:30 a.m.; and championship game, 1:30 p.m.
Admission is $5 each day. A tournament pass is $12.
Lake hosts boys tourneys
MILLBURY - Lake's boys basketball team is hosting varsity and junior varsity tournaments Friday and Saturday.
The varsity semifinals are Friday with Bryan facing Cardinal Stritch at 6 p.m. and Lake playing Seneca East at 8 p.m. The championship and consolation games are Saturday at 8 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.

Admission each day is $6 for adults and $4 for students.
BG's Rogers earns MAC honor
CLEVELAND - Bowling Green State University women's basketball player Alexis Rogers has been named Mid-American Conference East Division player of the week.
Rogers, a senior, averaged a team-high 16.0 points along with 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in the Falcons' two contests last week.
Against UMass, Rogers had 16 points and a game-high eight rebounds, and hit 8-of-10 shots from the field in just 22 minutes.
Rogers also added three assists and two steals. Then, at Purdue, Rogers again had 16 points and added five rebounds. She hit 5-of-9 shots from the floor and was 6-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Owens women win
TOLEDO - Eboni Carter scored 31 points in Owens Community College's 98-44 win over Grand Rapids Saturday night. Owens is 13-1.
The fourth-ranked Express led 49-19 at halftime as they won their 13th straight game.
