UT downs BGSU volleyball
TOLEDO - Toledo defeated the Bowling Green State University volleyball team, 25-20, 25-21, 16-25, 25-19, in a Mid-American Conference match Saturday.
BG's leaders were: Paige Penrod, 17 kills, 10 digs; Lindsey Butterfield, 16 kills; Laura Avila, 50 assists; Libby Dachenhaus, 17 digs; Ashley Dunn, from Bowling Green High School, 15 digs; and Madeline Garda, 10 digs.
The Falcons are 11-11 overall and 7-3 in the MAC.

Falcon men's soccer ties
The Bowling Green State University men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with Hartwick in a Mid-American Conference match Saturday.
Ryan Comiskey, on an assist from Brandon Silva, scored for BG, and Michael Wiest made five saves. BG is 5-6-5 overall and 2-1-1 in the MAC.

EMU tops BGSU swimmers
YPSILANTI, Mich.-Eastern Michigan beat the Bowling Green State University swimming team, 166-126, Saturday in the Falcons' first dual meet of the season. BG won seven of the 14 swimming events.
Freshman Victoria Griffin won the 200 freestyle (1:50.71), and 100 freestyle (51.49) and swam on the winning 400 freestyle relay team for the Falcons.
Other BG winners were: the 200 yard medley relay, of Maya Skorupski, Daniela Carrillo, Jo√´lle Scheps, and Brittany Szekely (1:45.88); Skorupski, 100 backstroke (57.72); Szekely, 50 freestyle (23.67); Scheps, 200 individual medley (2:07.20); and the 400 freestyle relay of Griffin, Kayla Effinger, Petra Laudova, and Szekely  (3:29.92).

BG women tie Miami
The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie with Miami Sunday. Miami is the leader in the Mid-American Conference East.
Kaitlyn Tobin, on an assist from Sidney Huth, scored for the Falcons and Jenna DiTusa made eight saves, including a diving stop on a penalty kick in the first half.
BG is 0-14-2 overall and 0-8-2 in the MAC.

Owens women's soccer wins
CINCINNATI - Elizabeth Theaker and Kendyl Christian scored goals for the Owens Community College women's soccer team in a 2-1 win over Cincinnati State Saturday.
Erica Brinkman made four saves for Owens, 15-2 overall, having won 13 straight matches.

Owens men's soccer splits
Ahmad Jarrar and Vijay Gentles each scored a goal as the Owens Community College men's soccer team beat Ancilla College, 2-0 Sunday.
Ryan Wicher made seven saves for the Express, 14-5-1 overall.
On Saturday, Cincinnati State beat the Owens 3-0 to win the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference title.
Joshua Kleinow made four saves for the Express, who finished 4-1-1 in the OCCAC.
Owens is the No. 2 seed for the regional tournament.

Owens volleyball falls
COLUMBUS - Columbus State Community College beat the Owens CC volleyball team, 25-14, 25-19, 25-20.
Ciarra Wirick led Owens with eight kills, 14 assists, six digs, and one block.
Owens is 19-19 overall and finishes 8-4 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference.
