Falcon hockey receives votes
MINNEAPOLIS - Bowling Green received four votes in the U.S. College Hockey Online preseason poll.
Sentinel-Tribune assistant sports editor Kevin Gordon has a vote in the poll.
BG junior forward Ryan Carpenter was named one of the country's top 10 forwards by USCHO.com.
He was a second-team All-Central Collegiate Hockey Association honoree last season, totaling 18 goals and 15 assists in 41 games.

NB has opening for varsity wrestling coach
NORTH BALTIMORE - North Baltimore High School is taking applications for the position of head varsity wrestling coach.
Letters of interest and a résumé should be sent to Bradlee Rowlinson, athletics director, NB High School, 2012 Tiger Drive, North Baltimore, 45872, or faxed to (419) 257-3601.

Weinert shoots age
SARASOTA,  Fla. - John Weinert, the former men's basketball coach at Bowling Green State University, recently shot his age at the Palm Aire Country Club.
Weinert finished with an 83.

Youth basketball registration set
Bowling Green Parks and Recreation is accepting registration for the youth basketball league, which runs from Oct. 8-Dec. 14.
League registration fees are $45 for residents of BG and $53 for non-residents.
The registration deadline is Friday. To register you can stop by the Bowling Green Community Center or go online to www.bgohio.org/departments/parks-and-recreation. Call (419) 354-6223 with any questions.

Tennis skills clinic planned
The Bowling Green Community Tennis Association is holding an introductory tennis skills clinic for children ages 4-9.
The five-week clinic will cover the fundamentals of tennis as well as developing motor skills related to the sport.
Foam tennis balls will be used and free loaner racquets are available.
Clinics will be held at the Veteran's South Building in City Park starting next Wednesday and ending Nov. 6.
The cost for five weeks is $26 per participant.

BGSU gymnastics releases schedule
The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team has released its schedule for 2014.
The Falcons will compete in five non-conference and six Mid-American Conference meets.
BG will open the season at Ohio State with Oregon State on Jan. 11 and start MAC competition Jan. 17 at Western Michigan.
The Falcons' home-opener will be a MAC match against Eastern Michigan on Jan. 25.

Express men's soccer loses
The Owens Community College men's soccer team lost to Schoolcraft College, 1-0 Wednesday.
Owens out shot Schoolcraft 20-8 and 7-1 in shots on goal.
Owens is 9-3-1 overall.

Express women win in double OT
LIVONIA, Mich. - The Owens Community College women's soccer team beat previously unbeaten Schoolcraft College 2-1 in double overtime.
The game-winning goal came from a header by Haley Kreger.
Other leaders for the Express were: Kendyl Christian, one goal; Jessica Grindle, from Northwood High SChool, and Jill Burkholder, one assist each.
Erika Brinkman made one save for Owens.
The Express are 9-2 overall and 6-2 in Region XII.
The win improved Owens' winning streak to seven games, the longest in program history.

Sinclair downs Owens volleyball
DAYTON - Sinclair Community College beat Owens CC, 25-22, 17-25, 25-21, 25-22 Wednesday.
Aricka LaVoy, from Eastwood High School, had eight digs for Owens, now 10-11 overall and 4-2 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference.

Softball tourney in Fostoria
FOSTORIA - The Gear Family YMCA is hosting an all-night coed softball tournament at Foundation Park.
The tournament starts Oct. 25 at 8 p.m.
