Falcons swimmers beat Toledo
TOLEDO — The Bowling Green Falcon swimming team won the final event of the meet to beat Toledo, 151-143
Friday.
The team of Kayla Effinger, Anna Babinec, Emily Waller and Hannah Newman swam a 1:35.07 to win the 200
freestyle relay and secure the dual-meet win.
The Falcons are 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the Mid-American Conference after winning eight of the 14 swimming
events.
Also for BG, freshman Victoria Griffin won the 100 (51.29) and 200 (1:51.93) freestyles and teammate
Daniela Carrillo won the 100 (1:05.34) and 200 (2:19.43) breast strokes.
Other BG winners were: Lara Klein, 1,000 freestyle (10:24.96); Effinger, 50 freestyle (24.07); and Joelle
Scheps, 200 individual medley (2:06.67).
BGSU second in Tom Wright Open
Bowling Green State University’s track team was second in the Tom Wright Open Friday at Perry Field
House.
Miami won the four-team meet with 132 points, and Bowling Green scored 115.
BG’s winners were: Brittany Sinclair, 400 (59.12); Jasmine Redman, 3,000 (10:17.76); Brooke Pleger,
weight throw (61-10); Alicia Arnold, long jump (19-5); and Tiera Parker, triple jump (37-1 1/4).
Pleger, Arnold and Rachel Durbin, who finished second in the mile in 4:57.57, meet the automatic
qualifying standard for the Mid-American Conference meet.
Five football Falcons earn
MAC academic honors
CLEVELAND — The Bowling Green State University football team had five players, the most of only school,
named to the All-Mid-American Conference academic list. Forty-one players were honored.
BG’s five honorees were Tyler Beck, Ronnie Goble, David ‘Chief’ Kekuewa, Chris Pohlman, Tyler Tate. Beck
and Tate are both two-time selections.
BGSU baseball camp canceled
Due to inclement weather, the Bowling Green State University winter prospect camp scheduled for Sunday
was canceled.
The camp will not be made up.
