Falcon volleyball goes 1-1
LOUISVILLE - The Bowling Green State University volleyball team went 1-1 at the Louisville Invitational Active Ankle Challenge on Saturday. BG is 3-8 overall.
Virginia Tech beat Bowling Green, 25-14, 25-21, 25-16. The Falcons beat Rice, 25-20, 25-23, 15-25, 25-17.
BG's leaders on the day were: Jelena Sunjic, 25 kills, including 19 in the win over Rice; Lindsay Butterfield, 22 kills, 16 digs; Erica Fullenkamp, 59 assists, 13 digs; Ashley Dunn, a Bowling Green High School graduate, 17 digs; and Paige Penrod, six block assists against Rice.

Akron edges BG men's soccer
AKRON -Akron slipped past Bowling Green State University's men's soccer team, 1-0 Saturday. The Zips are ranked No. 15 in the nation.
Michael Wiest made five saves for the Falcons, now 1-4-1 overall and 0-1 in the Mid-American Conference.

Falcon women's soccer loses
Evansville scored 1:17 into overtime to beat the Bowling Green Falcons' women's soccer team, 2-1 Sunday. The Falcons are 0-6.
Madeline Wideman scored for the Falcons. BG's Lauren Cadel made 10 saves and there was one team save.

BG's Chiricosta wins title
Bowling Green's Nikki Chiricosta won the championship at the top singles flight, as the Falcons' women's tennis team completed play at the BGSU Invitational Saturday.
Chiricosta downed Cincinnati's Ashleigh Witte by identical 6-1 scores in the championship match. She swept all six singles sets in the tournament, losing a total of just 10 games in the six sets.
BG's Kate Brozovich, at second singles, and Harley Hutchison, at fourth singles, lost in the championship round.
For the weekend, the Falcons were 15-6 in singles play and 5-4 in doubles play.

Owens volleyball goes 1-3
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Owens Community College went 1-3 at the Parkland Invitational over the weekend. Owens is 9-10 overall.
On Sunday, Parkland College beat Owens, 25-13, 15-12, 25-16, and Illinois Central College beat the Express, 22-25, 25-11, 25-16, 25-22.
On Saturday, Des Moines Area CC beat Owens, 25-23, 25-19, 25-22 and Owens beat Macomb CC, 25-19, 25-22, 26-24.

Express women's soccer wins
The Owens Community College women's soccer team is now 6-2 after beating Lorain County CC, 10-0 Saturday.
Jessica Grindle, from Northwood High School, Amber Burnette, Jill Burkholder, and Haley Kreger all scored two goals for Owens.
Marissa Ramirez, from Northwood High School, had an assist in the match.
Grindle has scored 12 goals this season.

Owens golfers win
DEFIANCE - Owens Community College had two men's golf teams compete in the six-team Defiance College Fall Invitational.
Owens' A team won the event with a 287 total as Blaze Hogan shot 67 and Kirby Manown had a 68 at Kettering Country Club.
Owens' B team recorded a 309 as Timothy Dawkins shot a 75.
