BGHS to sell advance tickets
Bowing Green High School will have tickets available for Friday's game at Otsego.
Tickets will be available today and Friday in the high school office and are $6 for adults and $4 for students.
Jones now with New England
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots were awarded rookie defensive tackle Chris Jones on waivers Wednesday from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Jones, a former Bowling Green Falcon, entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick of the Houston Texans this year. The Patriots initially claimed him when the Texans released him Aug. 31, but the Buccaneers also claimed him and had priority in the waiver order. Jones was inactive in the Buccaneers' season-opening loss to the Jets.
Now, the Patriots have the 6-foot-1, 302-pound Jones, to add depth at a defensive tackle position.
Kopchak named asst. softball coach at BGSU
Kolleen Kopchak has been named an assistant coach for the Bowling Green State University softball team.
Kopchak played for the Falcons from 1991-95, including on the 1993 Mid-American Conference championship team.
Most recently, Kopchak was an assistant softball coach at Eastwood High School from 2007-13.
Kopchak also served as an assistant softball coach for Toledo Waite High School and a volunteer head coach for the East Toledo Fast Pitch Softball Association from 2003-07.
Kopchak is expected to work with the outfielders and slappers. In addition, She will also be responsible for base running this season.
Owens volleyball sweeps
TOLEDO - Owens Community College's volleyball team beat Lakeland Community College in straight sets 25-11, 25-21, 25-10.
The Express have won five straight matches to improve to 6-6 overall and 2-0 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference.
Leaders for Owens were: Ciarra Wirick, 18 assists, 12 digs; and Jazmine Thomas, Sara Turner-Smith, and Tiffani Hobbs, seven kills each.
Owens men's soccer team shuts out Lakeland
TOLEDO - Owens Community College's men's soccer team blanked Lakeland Community College 4-0.
The Express have won two straight, and are 5-1 overall and 1-0 in the OCCAC.
Owens was led by Vijay Gentles, one goal, one assist. Gentles has five goals and a team-high five assists.
