Walker to play in national tournament
PINEHURST, N.C. - Bowling Green High School junior Trey Walker is playing in the Big "I" National Championship youth golf tournament today through Thursday on the Dogwood course at the Country Club of North Carolina. The tournament is one of the top youth tournaments in the country.

Pierson Halleck, Fawcett win BGCC tourney championships
Pierson Halleck and Maggie Fawcett were the champions at the Bowling Green Country Club yearly tournament held last weekend. Halleck had rounds of 76 and 73 to finish at 149. Fawcett shot a 94. Also in the men's championship division, Dan Long (73-78) and Patrick Halleck (74-77) tied for second at 151 and Bobby Nicholson (76-77) was fourth at 153. In the ladies division, Joyce Stearns was second with a 98 and Sharon Gargasz was third with a 104.

Other winners were:

• Men's A flight, Mark Manera (79-79) won with a 158 and Rick Ault (79-83-162) was second;

• Men's B flight, Dave Brott (90-92) won with a 182, followed by Ron Gargasz (92-97-189) and Dave Mason (92-101-193);

• Men's seniors, Dean Augenstein (93-91) won with a 184 and Dan Lewandowski (89-98-187) was second;

• Ladies net, Alicia Preslan shot 105 with a net of 68 and Pat Stavish shot 115 with a net of 69.
