Tulsa's Nelson ineligible
TULSA - University of Tulsa free safety Demarco Nelson was declared academically ineligible for Thursday's game at Bowling Green, according to a story in The Tulsa World.
A university spokesman said Nelson, a senior, is "ineligible to compete per the NCAA's Progress Towards Degree Requirement."
Nelson had started 39 straight games.
Tulsa has submitted an appeal to the NCAA on Nelson's behalf.
If the NCAA decides Nelson is ineligible for the entire season, he could return in 2014 as a fifth-year senior.
