Powers in Stage II of LPGA Qualifying School
Caroline Powers, a Bowling Green High School graduate, finished in the top 120 on the LPGA Futures Tour money list and bypass Stage I of the LPGA Tour Qualifying School.
Powers played in two events on the Symetra Tour, earning $2,284 which is 117th on the money list.
Powers will play in Stage II at Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Fla. Oct. 8-11.
The top 70 plus ties in the second stage advance to the final stage. Those who fail to advance out of the second stage receive Futures Tour status.
Falcon women's soccer falls
CLEVELAND - Cleveland State beat the Bowling Green women's soccer team, 2-1 Sunday in the Falcons' season-opener.
Haley Malaczewski scored for BG. Alyssa Carmack assisted on BG's goal and teammate Lauren Cadel made six saves.
Perrysburg-Whitmer tickets go on sale Wednesday
PERRYSBURG - Tickets for Friday's Toledo Whitmer at Perrsyburg football game will be on sale in the Perrysburg athletic office on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. each day.
Tickets are $6 for adults and $5 for students.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m. in Steinecker Stadium.
Owens women's soccer posts two wins
Jill Burkholder and Haley Kreger each scored a goal as the Owens Community College women's soccer team beat No. 11 Muskegon CC, 2-1 Sunday.
Jessica Grindle, from Northwood High School, assisted on Kreger's goal.
On Saturday, the Express blanked Lake Michigan, 5-0. Burkholder scored two goals for Owens and Grindle scored once. Erika Brinkman made two saves for Owens.
Owens men's soccer wins twice
Bjion Campbell scored all three goals at the Owens Community College men's soccer team beat Muskegon CC, 3-0 Sunday. Joshua Kleinow made 10 saves for Owens.
On Saturday, Jacob Martin had a goal and an assist as Owens beat Lake Michigan, 4-2 Saturday.
Owens volleyball loses
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - Schoolcraft College posted a 25-22, 25-19, 25-23 win over Owens Community College and Oakland CC beat Owens, 25-16, 22-25, 26-24, 25-13 in the Block City Classic Saturday. Owens is 0-4.
Five Falcon gymnasts honored
Five Bowling Green State University gymnasts have been recognized by the National Association of College Gymnastics Coaches for Women as scholastic all-americans
BG's honorees were: Monica Eaton (3.50 grade-point-average in criminal justice); Caroline Ellingboe (3.90 GPA in pre-graphic design); Megan Harrington (3.53 GPA in tourism, leisure and event planning); Sunny Marchand (3.63 GPA in exercise science); and Alyssa Nocella (3.77 GPA in pre-exercise science).
Eaton earned the honor for the fourth time, while Harrington was named for the third year.
Athletes must have a grade point average of 3.50 or higher to be honored.
