Registration open for development soccer league
Registration is still open for the Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Developmental League Soccer. The developmental league will be managed by the BG Soccer Club.
The program consists of seven weeks of practice and six games. Practices will begin the week of Aug. 26 and games begin on Sept. 7. All practices and games will be played at the Dunbridge Soccer Fields.
The league is for boys and girls ages 5-14,
The new coaches required certification class is Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Bowling Green Community Center (Classroom A).
The participant cost for ages 3-4 is $45 and $50 for ages 5-14 if registered by Sunday.  Registration after Sunday will result in a $5 late fee. All participants will receive a T-shirt.  Players are required to wear shin guards and bring their own soccer ball to practices and games.

BGSU women's soccer
picked sixth in MAC East
CLEVELAND - The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team has been picked to finish sixth in the East Division in the 2013 Mid-American Conference race. The poll is the result of voting by the league's 12 head coaches.
The 2012 Falcons finished with an overall record of 1-17-1 and a MAC mark of 0-10-1. Ten of the Falcons' losses, including six in conference play, came by a single goal.
Miami was picked to win the East regular season title, while Toledo was tabbed to capture the West crown.
The RedHawks received 66 total points in the voting, followed in the East by Kent State (62), Ohio (40), Akron (34), Buffalo (33) and BG (16).
Toledo received 58 votes in the West voting, followed by Eastern Michigan (52), Central Michigan (50), Ball State (40), Western Michigan (29) and Northern Illinois (23)
Miami was the choice of eight of the league's coaches to win the MAC tournament title. Ball State, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Kent State each received one vote.
