Wilson receives extension at RIT
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Former Bowling Green Falcon hockey defenseman and assistant coach Wayne Wilson signed a four-year contract extension as the head coach at the Rochester Institute of Technology, the school announced Wednesday.
The extension takes Wilson through the 2016-17 season.
Wilson is 270-145-44 in 14 seasons at RIT. In 2010, the Tigers advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four after winning the Atlantic Hockey championship.
Wilson was a co-captain on BG's NCAA championship team in 1984. He later was an assistant at BG under head coaches Jerry York and Buddy Powers.
BGSU women's soccer selects captains
Alyssa Carmack and Jenny Fowler will serve as co-captains for the Bowling Green State University women's soccer team this fall.
The captains were chosen by the okaters the coaching staff.
U12 baseball tryout planned
The Bowling Green 12U Diamond Cats travel baseball team is holding a tryout for the 2014 season on Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at Carter Park.

U11 baseball tryouts scheduled
PERRYSBURG - There will be U11 travel tryouts for the newly formed Perrysburg Baseball Club Black on Aug. 15.
The tryouts are from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Perrysburg Township big field, located on Fort Meigs Road between Roachton Road and Eckel Junction Road.
Eastwood MS athletics to start
LUCKEY - The starting dates for fall athletics for Eastwood Middle School have been set.
All fall sport athletes must have a physical turned in to the school before practicing or trying out. The forms can also be turned in on the first day of practice. Forms are available at eastwoodschools.org.
• Volleyball, mandatory tryouts for seventh and eighth grade volleyball begin on Monday with the seventh grade from 8:30-10:30 a.m. and the eighth grade for 4-6:15 p.m. in the middle school gym.
• Cross country, practice starts Monday from 8:30-10 a.m. Prospective runners should meet under the big mulberry tree near the high school parking lot.
• Football, seventh and eighth grade football practices being Aug. 12 from 9-11 a.m. Equipment will be issued and all paperwork will be collected on the first day.
