Two Falcon swimmers qualify for Olympic trials
CLEVELAND - Bowling Green State University swimmers Alexis Kain and Amanda Rom have qualified for the 2012 United States Olympic swimming trials.
The sectional meet was held at Cleveland State University over the weekend.
In the 100-meter breaststroke held on Saturday Kain and Rom each qualified for the 32-swimmer finals with top-eight times of 1:13.16 and 1:13.48, respectively.  he pair then took a step toward an Olympic dream in the finals by each surpassing the qualifying standard of 1:12.19.
Rom was fourth overall in 1:11.92, while Kain's time (1:12.01) earned sixth place.
The 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials are scheduled to be held in Omaha, Neb. next summer from June 25-July 2.

Bobcat ACME team wins first game at state
CELINA - The Bowling Green High School ACME baseball team won its first-round game at the state tournament on Saturday, defeating Vandalia, 4-3.
The Bobcats' second-round game against Greenville, originally scheduled for Sunday, was postponed to tonight at 7 at Celina's Eastview Park.
The winner of the BG-Greenville game will face the winner of Minster and Toledo Central Catholic in the winner's bracket finals Wednesday at 6 p.m. The loser of the BG-Greenville game will play Lima Shawnee on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Chambers' car finishes 35th
MILLVILLE, N.J. - The TeamRaceworks car, owned by former Bowling Green residents Matt and Mary Beth Chambers, finished 35th in its first NASCAR Gram Am race at the New Jersey Motorsports Park over the weekend.
Their Honda Civic completed 74 of the 75 laps in the race. A total of 51 cars competed.

BG youth hockey sets signup
The Bowling Green Youth Hockey Association is holding its annual registration day on Aug. 6 from noon-2 p.m. at the Ice Arena.
All participants for the 2011-2012 season will need a current USA Hockey registration ( and a birth certificate copy. Additional forms will be available on registration day.

11U baseball tryouts planned
The Ohio Stingrays 11U travel baseball team are holding tryouts for their 2012 season on Saturday and Aug. 6. Start time both days is 11 a.m on the softball fields at Carter Park in Bowling Green.

Badenhop gets win
MIAMI - Burke Badenhop is now 2-1 for the season after picking up the win for the Florida Marlins in an 8-5 victory over the New York Mets Saturday.
A for standout at Perrysburg High School and Bowling Green State University, Badenhop pitched 12‚Ñ3 innings of relief allowing one earned run while striking out two.
