Horn to compete in Junior Olympics
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maria Horn, a 12-year-old from Bowling Green, is running in the USATF national Junior Olympic meet at North Carolina A&T this week.
She qualified in the 100, 200 and 400 meters.
BGSU's Carrillo swims in World University Games
KAZAN, Russia - Daniela Carrillo, a swimmer at Bowling Green State University, represented Mexico at the World University Games in Kazan, Russia.
Carrillo, who will be a sophomore at BGSU this fall, competed in the 50-meter breast stroke as well as the 200-meter breast.
In each of those events, Carrillo finished second in her initial heat. She went on to finish 17th in the 200 breast stroke while placing 21st in the 50 breast stroke.
Carrillo was named to the All-Mid-American Conference second-team in her first season. She became the first Falcon swimmer to advance to the NCAA championships since 1996. Carrillo recorded a pair of second-place finishes, in the 100- and 200 breast stroke, at the MAC championships, with school-record times in both events.
