Givens eligible for Falcons
Andre Givens has successfully completed his course work and will be eligible to play football for the
Bowling Green Falcons, BG head coach Dave Clawson confirmed Thursday.
Givens was a highly-touted running back in the 2010 recruiting class after playing at Hubbard High
School. He originally signed a national letter of intent with Pittsburgh in 2010. Instead of going to
Pitt, Givens enrolled at Milford Academy in New Berlin, N.Y. He then came to Bowling Green for the 2011
fall semester.
In his last two seasons at Hubbard, Givens rushed for 2,358 yards and scored 39 touchdowns.
Kickoff times set for five 2012 BGSU football games
Kickoff times have been set for five of Bowling Green six home games in 2012.
The 2012 home opener with Idaho on Sept. 8 starts at 7 p.m. On Sept. 29, BGSU hosts Rhode Island at 3:30
p.m.
Contests with Miami (Oct. 13) and Eastern Michigan (Oct. 27) will begin at 3:30 p.m. and the Nov. 17 game
with Kent State is scheduled to kickoff at noon. The game with the Golden Flashes will be a part of the
ESPN Plus/ESPN Game Plan package.
Bowling Green concludes the regular season on Nov. 23 versus Buffalo inside Columbus Crew Stadium. This
kick time is not expected to be announced until two weeks prior to the contest with the Bulls due to
being a multiple game selection date by ESPN.
For road games, the Sept. 15 contest at Toledo begins at 7 p.m; BG at Akron n Oct. 6 starts at 2 p.m.; BG
at UMass on Oct. 20 starts at noon; and the Falcons at Ohio on Nov. 7 kicks off at 8 p.m. and is
scheduled to be carried live on ESPN2.
Kickoff times with Florida and Virginia Tech will be announced at a later date.
All BG home games will be streamed live on ESPN3.com during the 2012 season.
Fleming new asst. women’s basketball coach at BGSU
Jesse Fleming has been hired as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Bowling Green.
Fleming comes to BGSU after spending the 2011-12 season at Stony Brook University. Prior to his stint
with the Seawolves, he spent six years at Saint Bonaventure University. Fleming was associate head coach
during his final season (2010-11) with the Bonnies.
"Jesse has an impeccable reputation among his coaching peers as a relentless recruiter and a
fantastic teacher of the game," said Jennifer Roos, BG’s first-year head coach. "His
experiences of helping build the St. Bonaventure program into a NCAA Sweet 16 participant and beginning
to the lay the foundation for the program at Stony Brook have more than prepared him for this
opportunity at BGSU."
Fleming graduated with honors from St. Bonaventure in 2005, with a bachelor’s degree in journalism/mass
communication. He joins Ali Mann on Roos’ staff and Fleming begins his duties immediately.
BG’s Beatty earns honors
Bowling Green swimmer Jen Beatty has been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America Women’s
At-Large Team.
A redshirt junior, Beatty maintains a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average as an physical education
teacher education major was named to the second team.
Beatty is the first BG swimmer to earn Academic All-America honors since Jessica Guinness was named to
the second team in 2005-06.
Beatty set career-best times and earned spots in the consolation finals for the 100- and 200-yard
freestyle at the 2012 MAC championships.
Beatty was named to the Academic All-MAC team in 2011-12, earning that honor for the second consecutive
season.
