Chiricosta named academic All-American
Bowling Green tennis player Nikki Chiricosta was named to the academic All-American women’s at-large team
Thursday.
She ended her career as the winningest player in BG history. Her school-record 190 career victories
included 96 singles wins, also a BG record. She finished with 94 doubles wins, second-most in BG
history.
She was named the Mid-American Conference player of the year as a senior. She had a 41-23 record, leading
the team in singles (19), doubles (22) and total wins.
Chiricosta had a 3.97 grade-point average as a communication major.
Falcon gymnasts add recruit
Laura Mitchell, who is from Borehamwood, England, has signed a national letter of intent to join the
Bowling Green Falcon gymnastics team this fall.
One of the top gymnasts in England, Mitchell has won five British titles including being named Junior
British Champion. She represented her country at the Junior European Championships in 2010, posting her
team’s highest all-around score
Mitchell placed 10th in this year’s British national championships and was fourth on beam at the 2013
nationals.
