Owens golfers tied for eighth
SCOTTSBORO, Ala. - The Owens Community College golf team is tied for eighth after the first day of the NJCAA Division I national tournament.
South Mountain Community College tops the field with a 284 and Owens is at 298. The Express are seven shots out of third place.
Owens' Brandon Hoelzer is tied for fifth with a 2-under 70.
Also for Owens, Blaze Hogan, Luke Berger and Darren Gessner each shot a 76, while Walter Dorosh finished at 77.
Elmwood physicals planned
Sports physicals are being offered Elmwood high school students Thursday starting at 6 p.m. at Wood County Hospital.
Cost of the physicals is $15.
Students need to obtain paperwork and pay for the physicals at their school. For more information, call (419) 354-4154.
Local pullers place nationally
COLUMBIA, Mo. - The National Antique Tractor Pullers Association concluded its pulling season recently
Wood County residents who placed nationally were: Shad Ridenour, Bowling Green, second in the 4,500 Division 2T class, and third in the 5,000 Division 2T class; and Tom Ridenour, Rossford, second in the 5,500 Division 2T class, and fourth in the 5,000 Division 2T class.
Points are accumulated by participating in the 11 pulls held throughout the United States through the fall and winter months in an indoor facility.
The National Antiques Tractor Pullers Association is the nation's largest antique pulling organization.
Shad Ridenour's tractor is a 1950 Massey Harris 44 and Tom Ridenour's tractor is a 1949 Massey Harris 44 which has been owned by the Ridenour family since it was sold new in Bowling Green.
Rotary Tropical run set
WHITEHOUSE - The Rotary Tropical 5K run is June 2 at 5 p.m. in Whitehouse.
All proceeds for the race got to fund scholarships.
The Links Lassies held a stroke play event at Forrest Creason Golf Course Tuesday.
The flight winners were: A, Eileen Smith, low gross and low net; B, Doris Christensen, low gross and low net; C, Dorothy Beaupre and Sally Amos, low gross and low net; Smith, low putts.
