Falcon baseball wins nonleague game
The Bowling Green State University baseball team pounded out a season-high 21 hits, defeating Northern Kentucky 13-8 on Tuesday at Steller Field in a nonleague game.
Thirtenn players had at least one hit for the Falcons, 19-26 overall.
Jeremy Shay, Brian Bien and Nick Glanzman each had three hits for the Falcons while Glanzman and Aaron Loconsole each had three RBI. BG's Jake Thomas hit a double and a triple and Shay hit a triple.
With three games left in the regular season, the Falcons host the University at Buffalo beginning on Thursday at 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday's games will start at 1 p.m.
BG men's soccer schedule set
The Bowling Green State University men's soccer team has scheduled 19 regular season games, including eight home games under the lights at Cochrane Field.
The schedule includes a pair of home matches against Big Ten Conference foes, as well as five games against teams that advanced to the NCAA championships in 2012.
BG opens the season with a home match against Malone College on Aug. 30. The first Mid-American Conference game is at Akron on Sept. 21.
The Falcons also have home games against Michigan and Ohio State.

Pleger earns MAC honor
CLEVELAND - Bowling Green State University's Brooke Pleger has been named first-team All-Mid-American Conference for track and field after her performance at the MAC outdoor championships.
Pleger won the hammer throw at the MAC championships with a throw of 216-3 setting a meet record.
qualify for nationals
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - The Owens Community College men's golf team won the Region XII tournament by 32 strokes.
The Express finished with an 884 total to qualify for NJCAA Division II national tournament.
Owens is undefeated against NJCAA competition since the beginning of the fall season.
Owens' Brandon Hoelzer (75-69-75) and Walter Dorosh (72-73-73) were tied for first at 218 through 72 holes. Hoelzer won the one-hole playoff.
Also for Owens, Blaze Hogan shot a 77-73-75 (224) for sixth place, Luke Bergershot a 76-77-74 (227) for seventh place and Darren Gessner shot a 78-73-78 (229) for eighth place.
Hoelzer, Dorosh, Gessner, Berger and Hogan were named to the All-Region XII team and Hoelzer was the regional player of the year.
The national tournament is May 21-24 at Goose Pond Colony Golf Course in Scottsboro, Ala.
Tiffin Calvert joins TAAC
TOLEDO - Tiffin Calvert has joined the Toledo Area Athletic Conference for the 2014-15 school year.
Calvert is the ninth full-time member of the TAAC, which includes Northwood. Calvert will compete in all sports, boys and girls.
In addition to Northwood and Calvert, the other full-time TAAC members are Cardinal Stritch, Danbury, Emmanuel Christian, Gibsonburg, Maumee Valley, Ottawa Hills and Toledo Christian.
Emmanuel Christian and Maumee Valley do not play football, and Edon and Hilltop are football-only members of the conference.
The Links Lassies held a stroke play event at Forrest Creason Golf Course Tuesday.
The flight winners were: A, Eileen Smith, low gross and Smith and Kay Marten, low net; B, Joan Slebos, low gross and low net; C, Pat Patton, low gross and low net; and Slebos, low number of putts.
