Falcon baseball loses
Bowling Green’s baseball team had only two hits in a 7-0 nonconference loss to Xavier at Steller Field.

BG is 23-24 overall, while Xavier is 25-24.
Owens golf wins regional, qualifies for return to nationals
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Owens Community College’s men’s golf team had three of the top four finishers to
win the NJCAA Region XII tournament Tuesday at Bedford Valley Golf Course.
The Express, ranked third nationally, shot an 18-over-par 882 to defeat Grand Rapids CC by four strokes
to win the regional for the second straight year and earn a return to the NJCAA Division II national
tournament.
Owens’ Brandon Hoezler was the medalist with a 3-under 213, including a 76 in the final round.
Teammate Philippe Weppernig was third (77-218) and teammate Harrison Long was fourth (72-219).
Owens’ other scores were: Timothy Dawkins, 75-239; Kirby Manown, 80-237; and Dru Heim, 79-237.
Hoelzer’s regional championship was his second and earned him region player of the year honors. Owens’
Josh Williams was the region coach of the year. Hoelzer, Weppernig and Long were named to the all-region
team and all-tournament teams.
The national tournament is May 20-23 at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Ind.
