Falcon softball eliminated from MAC tournament
AKRON -Ā Bowling Green's softball team was eliminated from the Mid-American Conference tournament Thursday with a 7-4 loss to Toledo at Firestone Stadium.
The Falcons, seeded seventh for the tournament, finished 27-24 overall. Eighth-seeded Toledo improved to 17-35.
Hannah Fulk and Paige Berger both were 2-for-4 for BG. Berger also had a run batted in and Fulk hit a triple. Fulk and Berger both scored.
Katie Yoho and Erika Stratton added solo home runs for BG.
Toledo took a 2-0 lead in the second inning and never allowed BG to tie the game.
Pleger wins hammer throw at MAC track meet
AKRON - Bowling Green's Brooke Pleger won the hammer throw Thursday on the first day of the Mid-American Conference track and field championships.
The redshirt sophomore had with a meet-record throw of 216-3.
Pleger entered the met ranked fifth in the country in her event Ā
She became BG's first MAC champion in any event at the outdoor championships since Kerri McClung won the shot put in 2005.
Express softball wins three games
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. -Ā Katilyn Turski pitched all 19 innings Thursday as the No. 17 Owens Express softball team defeatedĀ Muskegon Community College, Lansing Community College and No. 16 Grand Rapids Community College in the NJCAA Region XII tournament.
The Express (24-16) advanced to the championship against Kalamazoo Valley Community College at 10 a.m. today. They need to win twice to capture the title.
Owens defeated Muskegon 7-2 in the first game, Lansing 8-0 (5 innings), and Grand Rapids 1-0.
Perrysburg High School graduate Tyniesha Wilson was 8-for-10 on the day with four runs and two runs batted in.
Owens baseball loses twice
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - Owens Community College's baseball season ended Thursday with two losses in theĀ NJCAA Region XII tournament.
The Express were 3-0 losers to Delta CC and 9-1 losers to Muskegon CC. Owens finished the season 15-29.
