Falcon tennis finishes second
MUNCIE, Ind. - Miami defeated the Bowling Green State University tennis team, 4-3 Sunday in the championship match of Mid-American Conference tournament. It was BG's first appearance in the tournament final.
The Falcons advanced to the final with a 4-2 win over Akron on Saturday.
BG won the double points and got singles victories from Katie Brozovich and Mary Hill on Sunday. Miami won the top three singles flights on the way to the win.
Against Akron, the Falcons won the doubles point and go singles wins for Brozovich, Hill and Katie Grubb.
Hill and Brozovich were both named to the all-tournament team.
BG (17-5) finishes its season with a second-record for wins.

BGSU women's golf
finishes sixth
NASHPORT - Bowling Green State University's golf team finished sixth in the Mid-American Conference tournament.
The Falcons shot 312 and Sunday and finished with a 957 total. Kent State won the nine-team event with a 909.
BG's scores were: Lily Bartell, 12th, 234; Shelby Wilson, tied for 16, 238; Amy Ruthenberg, tied for 26th, 243; and Bailey Arnold and Patrick Holt, tied for 33rd, 246.
BG finished the 2012-13 season with a scoring average of 311.26,  breaking the previous-best team average (318.57) set during the 2011-12 campaign.

Falcon baseball lose twice
KENT - The Bowling Green State University baseball team could not complete a ninth-inning rally, falling to Kent State 10-7 Sunday.
T.J. Losby homered twice and had three runs batted in during a 2-for-5 effort for BG.
Other top hitters for BG were: Jake Thomas, 2-for-5, home run, two RBI; Matt Pitzulo, 2-for-4, double; and Jeremy Shay, double.
On Saturday, the pitchers for the two teams combined for 20 strikeouts as Kent State posted a 3-1 win. BG's Mike Frank struck out eight in eight innings.
Losby had two hits for the Falcons and Brandon Howard drove in BG's only run.
BG is 14-23 overall and 8-10 in the Mid-American Conference.

Owens golfers win twice
Brandon Hoelzer's one-over-par 73 helped the No. 2 Express golf team capture a first place finish amid rainy and wet conditions in the Lorain County Invitational on Sunday.
The Express shot 304.
Hoelzer was the individual winner and teammate Darren Gessner was second with a 75.
Other Express golfers included Blaze Hogan (78), Luke Berger (78),Timothy Dawkins (81), Jason Glass (81) and Walter Dorosh (81).
On Saturday at the Bill Gettig Invitational in Angola, Ind., the Express shot a 290 to finish 11 strokes ahead of Alma College.
Berger shot a team and tournament best 70.
Hogan (72), Hoelzer (74), Dorosh (74) and Dawkins (76) rounded out the scoring for the Express.

Hole-in-one recorded
Rock Bursa recently recorded a hole in one at Bowling Green Country Club.
He used an 8-iron to ace the 147-yard 11th hole.

BGSU softball splits with UT
Paris Imholz pitched a shutout as the Bowling Green State University softball team beat Toledo, 1-0 Sunday. Imholz struck out two, walked one and allowed four hits.
Paige Berger had two hits and drove in the only run of the game.
On Saturday, the Rockets beat the Falcons. 3-1. Erika Stratton had two hits for the Falcons and Chloe Giordano had BG's lone RBI.
The Falcons are 25-19 overall and 8-10 in the Mid-American Conference.

Falcon track team competes
Bowling Green State University's Jasmine Redman met the Mid-American Conference's automatic qualifying mark in the 5,000 and Brooke Pleger continued to excel in the hammer throw as track and field team competed in two locations over the weekend.
At the Gina Relays, Redman ran a 17:12.70 in the 5,000, a time that was 18 seconds better than her previous best and surpassed the MAC automatic qualifying mark by more than a full second.
Also at Hillsdale, the 400 relay team of  Kera Lamotte, Taylor Rambo, Brittany Sinclair and Allison Weimer posted a season-best time of 47.21 to place second overall; and Andrea Alt, from Perrysburg High School, was seventh in the 3,000 steeplechase (10:56.01).
At the Ashland Alumni Open, Pleger won the hammer with her second best throw of the season, 215-7.
