BGSU track team beats UT
Bowling Green State University's track team beat Toledo, 93-90 in a dual meet at Whittaker Track Thursday,
BG's Andrea Alt, a Perrysburg High School graduate, won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:55.98. Alt was competing in the event for the first time in her career and her time exceeded the Mid-American Conference automatic qualifying mark by almost 10 seconds. The time ranks fourth in the MAC this year.
The Falcons finished with eight individual victories and two relay wins.
BG's Jeanette Pettigrew and Allison Weimer won the 200 (24.90) and 100 (12.57), respectively, and both ran on the winning 400 and 1,600 relay teams. Weimer ran the anchor leg of the 1,600 to secure the dual meet victory.
Bobcat Invitational track today
Bowling Green High School is hosting the Bobcat Invitational track and field meet today.
The field events start at 4:30 p.m., followed by the running preliminaries at 5:30 p.m. and the running finals at 7 p.m.
Also competing in the meet are Lake, Defiance, Napoleon, Lima Senior, Findlay, Leipsic, and Fremont Ross.
Admission is $6 for adults and $5 for students..
BG Rifle Club loses
Meeker defeated the Bowling Green Rifle Club, 1,413-1,377. BG finished its season at 5-15.
BG's scorers were: Bob Schwiebert, 282; Richard Dittman, 277; Mick Sayen, 274; russ France, 272; and Norbert Norden, 272.
