Owens softball swept
Owens Community College's softball team is 12-8 overall after a 10-5, 9-1 doubleheader loss Monday to visiting Mercyhurst North East (21-5).
Melanie Iacoangeli, Emily Rockman and Jaylee Glad each had two hits for Owens in Game 1, Amanda Sinay had two hits in Game 2.

Owens baseball splits
Owens Community College's baseball team split a doubleheader with the Ashland University junior varsity, losing the opener 1-0 and winning the second game 5-4.
In the opener, Sean Koerber pitched a complete game for Owens, allowing five hits and four walks with seven strikeouts. Ashland's run was unearned. Logan Shullick and Anthony Perez each had two hits for Owens.
In the second game, Nick Morrow pitched a complete game for the Express allowing two hits and five walks with two strikeouts and three earned runs.
Owens had only three hits in the second game, but benefitted from seven walks.
Owens is 6-15 overall.

BG Rifle Team loses
The Bowling Green Rifle Team was a 1,439-1,404 loser to Tiffin.
BG's scores were: Dan Altman, 290; Bob Schweibert, 286; Norbert Norden, 283; Russ France, 275; and Mick Sayen, 270. Jerry Milnor also fired for BG.
