Thomas goes to LSU
Austin Thomas, who was the director of recruiting and player personnel for the Bowling Green State University football team, has accepted a similar position at Louisiana State.
Thomas was at Bowling Green for less than one month.
Owens softball wins twice
The Owens Community College softball team swept Macomb CC, 8-3 and 5-4, Thursday.
In the opener, Amanda Sinay and Emily Rockman were both 2-for-3 while Melanie Iacoangeli, Alyssa Lassey, Rockman, Sinay and Hannah Shank, a North Baltimore resident, each had one RBI for Owens.
In the second game, Katie Butler's walk-off single capped the doubleheader sweep.
Butler, Iacoangeli and Sinay were each 2-for-4 while Butler, Rockman and Lassey each had two RBI.
Katilyn Turski was the winning pitcher in both games for Owens, 12-6.
BG Blast U10
baseball team plans fundraiser
The Bowling Green U10 baseball team will host a fundraiser April 9 from 4-7 p.m. at the McDonald's on East Wooster.
The team will receive 10 percent of the profits that night to help pay for uniforms, tournaments and equipment.
Fostoria YMCA plans events
The Geary Family YMCA is forming adult softball leagues and offering youth baseball tournaments.For more information, visit gearyfamilyymca.org.
USSSA softball tourney in BG
A men's USSSA Class D and E softball tournament will be held April 20 at Carter Park in Bowling Green.
The round-robin tournament has a national bid. The champion will receive its entry fee back.
The draw is April 18 at 5 p.m.
