Two BGSU gymnasts qualify for NCAA regionals
INDIANAPOLIS - Bowling Green gymnasts Megan Harrington and Alyssa Nocella have qualified as regional selections for the NCAA gymnastics championships.
The two Falcons will participate in the all-around, traveling to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to compete on April 6. Harrington also qualified for the regionals last year.
BG's Jamilah Ali (vault) and Amanda Lievendag (uneven bars) are listed as alternates in their respective events.
Six teams, five all-around competitors (who are not on a qualifying team) and one individual event specialist per event were named to each of the six regional host sites.
The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors (who are not on an advancing team) from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships at UCLA on April 19-21.
In addition, the event winners at each regional site will advance to the national championships (in that event only) if they are not part of a qualifying team or an all-around qualifier.
NCAA regional hockey tickets on sale at Stroh Center
Tickets for the NCAA Midwest Regional hockey playoffs are on sale at the Stroh Center ticket office. Bowling Green State University is the host school for the regional.
The semifinals are Saturday with Notre Dame playing St. Cloud at 1:30 p.m. and Miami playing Minnesota State at 5 p.m., The championship game is Sunday at 5 p.m.
All-session tickets are $75 for three games ($65 for students). Fans also can purchase tickets by calling (800) 745-3000.
Falcon baseball postponed
Today's Bowling Green Falcon baseball game at Wright State was postponed because of snow.
A makeup date has not been announced.
Imholz earns MAC honor
CLEVELAND - Paris Imholz, a sophomore on the Bowling Green State University softball team is the Mid-American Conference East pitcher of week. She has won the honor three weeks in a row.
Imholz recorded two wins against Wright State. Imholz held the Raiders scoreless in two appearances over a two-game span, striking out five in eight innings.
Imholz is 9-1 this season, appearing in 18 games with eight starts. She leads the Falcons with 76 1/3 innings pitched, allowing just 14 earned runs for a 1.28 ERA.
