Tickets on sale for WNIT game
Tickets can be purchased at the Bowling Green State University athletic ticket office or by calling 877-BGSU TICKET (247-8842) for Thursday's WNIT game at the Stroh Center. BG hosts SMU in first-round action at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $22 for Anderson Club seats and $13 for reserved seats. Season-ticket holders can purchase their same seat(s) for the game.
For BGSU students, 300 free tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis, courtesy of the BGSU Division of Student Affairs.
Any interested BGSU student can pick up a ticket at the information desk at the Bowen-Thompson Student Union while supplies last. Students must present a valid BGSU ID at the time of pickup, and there is a limit of one ticket per student.
If a BGSU student does not get one of the free tickets, admission will be $5.
BGSU softball players honored
CLEVELAND - Bowling Green State University's Hannah Fulk and Paris Imholz are the Mid-American Conference East softball hitter and pitcher of the week, respectively.
A senior, Fulk led the Falcons with a .600 batting average in a weekend series sweep of Dayton.
A sophomore, Imholz pitched her fourth complete game of the season in game one, earning her third complete game shutout of the season. Imholz held the Flyers scoreless on five hits, striking out five to improve her record to 7-1 on the season.
Imholz earned a save in game two, holding Dayton to two hits and zero runs in the final 1 2/3 innings. Imholz's save marked the ninth of her career, setting the BG career record.
Eastwood's Lemle resigns
LUCKEY - Eastwood High School girls basketball coach Gary Lemle has resigned, school athletics director Chris Fahim confirmed Tuesday.
The Eagles were 13-31 overall and 9-19 in Lemle's two seasons.
Otsego favored for softball title
Otsego is the favorite to win the Northern Buckeye Conference softball championship. The Knights received three first-place votes and 54 points in the annual coaches poll announced Tuesday night.
Elmwood was second with 51 points, followed by Eastwood 46, Rossford 39, Woodmore 35, Genoa 34, Lake 15 and Fostoria 13. Elmwood and Eastwood each received two first-place votes, while Rossford had one.
St. Wendelin joins Sandusky River League
The Sandusky River League voted 6-0 to accept Fostoria St. Wendelin's application as the seventh member of the new league. This will be effective in the 2014-2015 school year.
The schools currently committed to the new league are: Tiffin Calvert; Lakota; New Riegel; Old Fort; Fremont St. Joseph; and Sandusky St. Mary.
Quartermania to benefit BG Blast
A quartermania to benefit the BG Blast U9 is Thursday at the Woodland Mall Food Court.
Paddle selection and an opportunity to preview items is from 6-7 p.m. with the quartermania auction starting at 7.
