Falcon softball splits
JOHNSTON CITY, Tenn. - The Bowling Green State University softball team split a doubleheader with East Tennessee State Monday, dropping the first game 5-0 before getting a 1-0 win in the second game.
The Falcons are 4-3 overall.
BG had three hits in the opener with Paige Berger hitting a double.
In the second game, Paris Imholz improved to 3-0, pitching her second complete game shutout of the season.
Imholz held East Tennessee State to four hits, with seven strikeouts and two walks.
Chloe Giordano hit an RBI double in the second inning for the Falcons. Katie Yoho also doubled for the Falcons.
BG men golfers tied for 15th
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Bowling Green State University men's golf team shot a 308 on day one of the Samford Intercollegiate and is tied for 15th. Vanderbilt leads the 18-team field with a 287 total.
Monday was scheduled for 36 holes, but due to a frost delay in the morning the teams completed only the opening round.
Most teams were midway through round two before play was called on account of darkness. When play resumes today, the players will complete the second round and immediately begin the final round.
BG's scores were: Charlie Olson, tied for 27th, 74; Wes Gates, tied for 39th, 75; Holden Pahr, tied for 61st, 78; Ryan Triller, tied for 81st, 81; and Joe Cooper, tied for 92nd, 86.
Owens softball splits
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Owens Community College softball dropped a 10-1 decision to Olney Central College and then beat CCBC-Catonsville, 5-4 on Monday. Owens is 2-2.
Emily Rockman hit a home run in the loss to Olney.
In the win over CCBC-Catonsville, Melanie Iacoangeli's double in the bottom of the sixth inning scored the eventual game-winning run. Also for Owens in the second game, Katie Butler hit a solo home run; Alyssa Lassey was 3-for-3; and Amanda Sinay hit a triple.
Iacoangeli was 6-of-8 on the day.
Owens baseball loses twice
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Owens Community College baseball team dropped two games Monday, 6-1 to Olney Central College and 8-0 to Danville Area CC.
Owens' Benjamin Braymier was 3-for-3 against Olney and Nick Collins was 2-for-3 against Danville.
Owens is 0-3 this season.
