BGHS selling boys district tickets
Bowling Green High School is selling tickets for its district semifinal boys basketball game against Sandusky Perkins.
The game is Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Bowling Green State University's Stroh Center.
Tickets are being sold during school hours in the high school office through Wednesday.
Tickets in advance are $6 for adults and $4 for students. All tickets at the gate are $6 and BGSU will be charging a $5 parking fee per car.
BGHS will receive a bonus on all presale tickets sold.
BG swimmers finish third
BUFFALO, N.Y. - Alexa Harris won the 200 backstroke at the Mid-American Conference swimming championships to help Bowling Green State University finish third.
BG head coach Petra Martn was named the MAC coach of the year.
Miami won the team title with 621 points. BG finished with 467 points in the eight-team field. It was the program's best finish at MAC championships since the 2004 season.
Harris swam a school record 1:57.30 to win the backstroke.
Her time was faster than the 1:57.75 she swam in prelims and both times eclipsed the NCAA B standard in the event.
Daniela Carrillo and Stephanie Boyle finished second and third, respectively, in the 200 breast stroke.
Carrillo swam a BGSU record of 2:11.20 in the prelims, finishing with a 2:11.95 in the final. Her time meets the NCAA B standard. Boyle's 2:15.43 also surpassed the NCAA B standard.
Jordan Bullock finished fifth in the 200 butterfly in 2:00.11 to break the BGSU record. Emily Bennet was seventh in 50.89 in the 100 freestyle.
BG's 400 freestyle relay team of Scheps, Bennet, Brittany Szekely and Hannah Newman was fifth in a school-record time of 3:23.78.
BGSU softball snowed out
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The Bowling Green State University softball team's games on Saturday and Sunday were snowed out.
BG will play at least one game against East Tennessee State today and possibly playing a doubleheader.
Owens baseball loses
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C - Olney Community College scored five times in the second inning on the way to a 5-2 win over the Owens Community College baseball team Saturday.
Justin Elder and Austin Cowan each had two hits for Owens.
Falcon baseball loses
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - The Bowling Green State University baseball team was defeated 8-5 by Tennessee Tech, in a game originally suspended due to snow on Saturday evening.
The contest became official after six innings when overnight snow made the field unplayable on Sunday.
The Falcons are 2-6 this season as game three of the series was canceled due to the snow and will not be made up.
Patrick Lancaster had two hits, including a double and an RBI for the Falcons.
Central Michigan beat BGSU gymnasts
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan beat Bowling Green State University, 196.025-194.500 in a Mid-American Conference gymnastics match Saturday.
The Falcons were led by all-around performances from Megan Harrington (39.025) and Jamilah Ali (39.0), who finished second and third.
BG's other leaders were: uneven bars, Alyssa Nocella and Caroline Ellingboe , 9.775 each; vault, Ali, 9.825; beam, Nocella, 9.85; and beam, Ali, 9.875.
Owens softball splits
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Emily Rockman and Olivia Reeder hit solo home runs, while Jolene Sauter tossed a two-hit shutout as the Owens Community College Express softball team beat Cabrini College, 9-0 to open its season 1-1.
King's College beat Owens, 9-0.
Sauter walked one and struck out six.
Mareshah Scott was 3-for-3 for Owens in the win over Cabrini.
