Owens' Kelly breaks school rebounding mark
James Kelly had nine rebounds for Owens Community College's men's basketball team in a 90-65 win over Edison State Wednesday.
In the process, he broke the school record of 597 rebounds set by Brian Williams in 1985-87.
In addition, Kelly had a team-high 20 points and added two assists and two steals.
Andy Bachman and Darius Washington each added 10 points for Owens, 20-8 overall and 9-2 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference.
Kelly is also three blocks away from breaking the career blocks record. Should he do that, he will become the first player in Owens men's basketball history with at least 1,000 points, 600 rebounds and 100 blocks in their career.
Owens women clinch share of OCCAC title
Emma-Jean Ricketts scored 24 points and Mackenzie Heacock hit several huge shots as the Owens Community College Express women's basketball team defeated Edison Community College 80-70 Wednesday.
The Express clinched a share of their second Ohio Community College Athletic Conference championship in the past three years.
Ricketts added six rebounds, four steals and two blocks. Heacock finished with 19 points, while adding nine rebounds, a team-high five steals, and four assists.
Karahn Scott scored 17 points and had a team-high 18 rebounds along with four steals and two assists.
Owens is 22-7 overall and 9-2 in the OCCAC.
NB sets spring parents meeting
NORTH BALTIMORE - The state mandatory spring parent athletics meeting at North Baltimore High School is Monday starting at 6:30 p.m. with the Ohio High School Athletic Association video.
The coach's meetings will be after the video. If you have watched the video this school year, you need not to attend this part of the meeting.
All spring athletes and their parents need to attend the meeting. If you cannot attend, a meeting needs to be set up with the individual head coach.
Ducks Unlimited plans fundraiser
ROSSFORD - The Fallen Timbers Ducks Unlimited annual fundraising banquet is March 19 at the Electrical Industry Banquet Hall on Lime City Road.
Doors open at 5:50 p.m., followed by dinner at 7. The evening includes dinner, raffles, and live and silent auctions.
