Owens men earn tie for OCCAC lead
KIRTLAND -Joe Retic II scored 26 points to help the Owens Community College men's basketball team beat Lakeland CC, 71-69 Wednesday.
Owens and Lakeland are tied for first place in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference at 8-1.
Other leaders for Owens were: James Kelly, 15 points, eight rebounds; Tony Boykins, 16 points; and Chris Wilson, a team-high 11 rebounds.
Kelly has 1,042 career points, 582 career rebounds and 96 blocks. He is 16 rebounds away from breaking the career rebounding record and four blocks away from the career blocks record.
Owens is 19-7 overall.
Express women win
KIRTLAND - Uniqua Mitchell led six players in double figures as the Owens Community College women's basketball team defeated Lakeland CC, 98-35 Wednesday.
Mitchell finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds and a team-high five assists.
Other leaders for Owens were: Karahn Scott, 13 points. 15 rebounds; Breonna House, 13 points; Nandi Taylor and Eboni Adams, 11 points each; and Danielle Bezeau, 10 points.
Owens is 20-7 overall and 7-2 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference.
Synchronized skating championships set
The Bowling Green Skating Club is hosting the Tri-State Synchronized Skating Championships Saturday at the Ice Arena.
Fifty-six teams are expected to compete, including two Bowling Green teams.
Teams will be competing from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. At noon there is a special awards ceremony involving all of the teams.
Admission is $5, with children 10-and-under admitted free. There is no fee for parking.
Rossford hosts youth wrestling tournament
ROSSFORD - The 15th annual Bulldog Wrestling Tournament is March 17 at Rossford High School.
The biddy tournament is open to wrestlers age 14-and-under.
