BGSU baseball picked second
CLEVELAND – Bowling Green State University was picked to finish second in the Mid-American Conference
East Division, in the baseball preseason coaches poll released Wednesday.
The Falcons, the defending MAC tournament champions, received 52 votes, behind only Kent State’s 71 votes
in the East. Kent State received 11 of the 12 first-place votes in the East.
Seven different teams received votes to win the MAC tournament, including Bowling Green, which received
one vote.
The complete poll is: East, 1) Kent State, 71, 11 first-place votes; 2) BOWLING GREEN, 52; 3) Buffalo,
50; 4) Miami, 36, one first-place vote; 5) Akron, 24; 6) Ohio, 19; and West, 1) Ball State, 57, four
first-place votes; 2) Central Michigan, 56, three first-place votes; 3) Toledo, 54, four first-place
votes; 4) Northern Illinois, one first-place vote; 5) Eastern Michigan, 27; 6) Western Michigan, 15.
The tournament champion voting was: Kent State (4), Ball State (3), Bowling Green (1), Central Michigan
(1), Eastern Michigan (1), Miami (1), and Toledo (1).
Owens women win by 45
The Owens Community College women’s basketball team rolled past Lakeland CC, 83-38, Wednesday.
Owens’ leaders were: Kamilah Carter, 24 points; Zhana Randolph, 11 points; Ashley Tunstall, 10 points,
nine rebounds; and Eboni Adams, 10 rebounds.
The Express, ranked No. 6 in the nation, are 20-2 overall and 6-1 in the Ohio Community College Athletic
Conference. It was the 225th win for Owens head coach Mike Llanas.
Brozovich, Chiricosta honored by MAC
CLEVELAND – Bowling Green’s Nikki Chiricosta and Katie Brozovich have been named the Mid-American
Conference women’s doubles team of the week.
Chiricosta and Brozovich won their matches against Michigan State and Illinois-Chicago last week to
remain undefeated in dual matches.
Owens men win
The Owens Community College men’s basketball team rallied to post a 91-86 win over Lakeland CC Wednesday.

Owens trailed 38-31 at the half.
Owens’ leaders were: John Murry, 28 points; Andy Bachman, 17 points, eight rebounds; Bikramjit Gill, 16
points, 11 rebounds; and Shaakir Lindsey, 13 points.
The Express, ranked No. 8 in the nation, are 20-4 overall and 7-0 in the Ohio Community College Athletic
Conference. It’s the fourth-straight 20-win season for Owens.
Perrysburg’s Quimby to play at BGSU
Perrysburg’s Sarah Quimby is one of nine recruits for the Bowling Green women’s soccer team.
Quimby helped the Yellow Jackets to a perfect 23-0 record and a state championship in 2012, and
Perrysburg won the Northern Lakes League title in 2013. Quimby also has lettered in basketball at
Perrysburg. She has played club soccer for the Greater Toledo Futbol Club as well as PSC Impact.
The other 2014 recruits are: Mikaela Couch (Columbus/Westerville South); Skylar Fleak (Sunbury/Big
Walnut); Sarah Harmer (Tipp City/Tippecanoe); Adelle Hobson (Dayton/Vandalia Butler); Erica Hubert
(Welland, Ontario, Canada/E.L. Crossley); Leah Runkle (Wadsworth/Wadsworth), Madison Schupbach
(Rochester, Mich./Stoney Creek), and Rachel Winters (Plymouth, Mich./Canton).
Rudolph signups set
RUDOLPH – The baseball and softball signups have been set for the Rudolph Youth Ball League.
The dates are Saturday and Feb. 22 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Liberty Township Civic Center Boy Scout
Room.
