BG seeded fourth for district hockey
SYLVANIA - Bowling Green earned the fourth seed for the district high school hockey playoffs which start Thursday at Tam-O-Shanter.
Second-ranked Toledo St. John's was the No. 1 seed, while Northview was seeded second and Findlay was third. Northview is ranked sixth.
BG plays its first playoff game Feb. 14 at 8 p.m. against Ottawa Hills.
If BG beats Ottawa Hills, it plays Anthony Wayne or Springfield Feb. 19 at 6 p.m.
Perrysburg plays its first playoff game Feb. 16 at 8:30 p.m. against Clay.
In Perrysburg beats Clay, it plays Northview Feb. 18 at 6 p.m.
The district semifinals are March 22 at 7 p.m. and March 23 at 7:30 p.m.
The district championship is March 2 at 7 p.m., with the winner advancing to the state semifinals.

Falcon softball picked to win MAC East
CLEVELAND - Bowling Green's softball team is the favorite to win the Mid-American Conference East Division championship,
The Falcons received 10 of the 12 first-place votes in a poll of MAC coaches, but the total points for each team were not announced.
Ohio was picked second, followed by Kent State, Miami, Akron and Buffalo. Ohio had three firsts, while Kent and Miami each had one.
Ball State was picked to win the West, followed by Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois and Toledo. Ball State had nine firsts, while Central had two and  Western one.
Ball State received six votes to win the conference tournament. BG, Central and Ohio also received votes to win the tournament.
