BGSU baseball names captains
The Bowling Green State University has named seniors Cody Apthorpe, Jeremy Shay, and T.J. Losby as
tri-captains for the coming season.
Apthorpe becomes just the second player in school history to be elected a captain in three different
seasons.
Losby is a captain for the second straight year.
The Falcons open the season on Feb. 14 when they travel to Nashville to take on Belmont in a three-game
series.
Elmwood-Rossford girls rescheduled
The Elmwood at Rossford girls basketball game has been rescheduled for Feb. 4, with the junior varsity
game at 6 p.m.
Elmwood’s game at Fostoria on Jan. 23 will be a varsity only contest, starting at 6 p.m. Fostoria doesn’t
have a JV team.
Youth softball clinic planned
The Bowling Green High School softball team is conducting a series of skill clinics for BG area youth
players ages 6-14.
The sessions will be held on Sunday afternoons from Jan.19-Feb. 16.

Owens men post win
Six players scored in double figures as the Owens Community College men’s basketball team beat the
University of Akron club team, 104-36 Friday. Owens is 13-4 overall.
Owens’ leaders were: Shavon Gayle, 18 points, eight rebounds; John Murry, 16 points; Kenny Jones, 14
points; Bikramjit Gill, 13 points; Andy Bachman, 12 points, nine rebounds; Edmond Early, 11 points; Tony
Boykins, 10 rebounds; and Markese Allen, seven assists.
