Special Olympians win medals at state

Wood County Special Olympians won 10 gold, 11 silver four bronze medals at the Ohio Special Olympics
Summer Games in Columbus.
Twenty-four county athletes competed in the meet that consisted of 3,200 athletes.
Here are the county results:
• Aaron Baker, 100, fifth; and 200, third.
• Christine Black, softball throw, third; 400 relay, fifth; and 100, third.
• Daniel Bowen, 200, first; 400 relay, second; and 800, second;
• Samantha Buck, volleyball, second.
• Alanna Bucky, volleyball, second.
• Nicki Bucksky, volleyball, second.
• Sara Burrell, 400 relay, fifth; 100, first; and 200, first.
• Kim Fechter, 800, second; 400, third; 400 relay, second.
• Katie Fisher, 400 relay, second; 100, third; and 200, fourth.
• Kristin Fisher, softball throw, fourth; and 100, third.
• Melissa Frizado, softball throw, fifth; and 100, first.
• Greg Mason, bocce doubles, first.
• Paula Heffelfinger, 100, first; 200, third; and 400 relay, fifth.
• John Kuhnbander, volleyball, second.
• Michael Nietz, volleyball, second.
• Ryan Rath, volleyball, second.
• Trevor Sachs, 400 relay, fifth; 100, fourth, 400 fourth.
• Abbey Sattler, 100, first; 200, fourth; and 400 relay, fifth.
