Perrysburg’s Aaron Davis, photo to the left, celebrates after a Yellow Jackets’ goal against Strongsville during the 10th annual Pete Raffa Memorial Preseason High School Soccer Tournament hosted at BGSU this weekend. In the photo to the right, Perrysburg’s Will Ferguson handles the ball while pressured by Strongsville’s Dean Hayes. The tournament included 46 teams from around the state, including varsity and junior varsity. The tournament is named after Raffa, former Perrysburg High School coach (1992-2001). The proceeds from the tournament fund two scholarships: The Pete Raffa Memorial Scholarship, and the Terry Thompson Memorial Scholarship, a local referee scholarship created in 2011 to help sponsor high school students pursing being a referee at the high school level or higher.
