A high-speed stolen vehicle chase Friday evening that started in Sylvania Township and ended in Oregon dipped into northern Wood County.
The State Highway Patrol reported a trooper tried to stop a black Honda Civic for a speed violation on King Road and Central Avenue in Sylvania Township at 7:41 p.m. Friday. The vehicle fled the attempted stop at a high rate of speed before the driver made his way to the expressway.
From there, the driver, Duane Curtis, 33, of Toledo, continued from I-475 to I-75 and onto I-280. He then allegedly pulled over on Woodville Road and fled on foot. He was apprehended a short time later at his residence, the patrol said.
Curtis was taken to the Lucas County Jail and charged with having a suspended license, fleeing in a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property.
The vehicle was reported stolen to the Toledo Police Department. Also assisting was the Lucas County Sheriff's Office and the Oregon and Northwood police departments.
