College Scene: Williams led Purdue with 10 goals (12-05-13) PDF Print E-mail

(Editor's Note: The College Scene updates the activities of athletes from Wood County high schools and county residents who are playing sports at the college level. It is published once a month and includes sports currently in season as well as any recent college signings, and honors or awards.

Maddy Williams, from Perrysburg High School, was a freshman on the Purdue University women's soccer team.
Williams was selected as a second team all-conference performer by CollegeSportsMadness.com. She led Purdue with 10 goals.
She scored in eight of the 18 games in which she played, posting multi-goal efforts in wins against Akron and Northern Illinois.  Williams established a Purdue freshman record with 26 points this season.
Williams also became the first Boilermaker to post a double-figure goal total since three players did so during Purdue's 2007 20-win campaign.
Williams accounted for the game-winning goal against Northern Illinois, Illinois and Northwestern.
Purdue was 8-10-1 overall and 3-8 in the Big Ten.
Karter Sell, from Perrysburg High School, was a junior forward on the Duquesne University men's soccer team.
He played in all 18 matches for the Dukes, 9-8-1 overall, making 13 starts. He had two goals and one assist this season
Alyssa Shimel, from Eastwood High School, is a senior on the University of Michigan women's golf team.
She played in all four of UM's fall tournaments, and averaged 78.82 per round.
At the Diane Thomason Invitational, Shimel was Michigan's leader, finishing in a tie for 31st on rounds of 79, 80, and 75.
Sarah Sikula, from Bowling Green High School, was a freshman on the Western Illinois volleyball team.
She played in 14 matches for WIU, which finished this season 12-18. Sikula had 59 digs.
Geri Siudzinski, from Perrysburg High School, was a sophomore midfielder on the University of Toledo women's soccer team.
She played in all 19 matches with 14 starts for the Rockets, 6-12-1 overall.
Siudzinski had a team-high four assists.
Steve Slocum, from Perrysburg High School, was a freshman on the Miami RedHawks football team.
Lindsay Smith, from Perrysburg High School, was a freshman on the University of Toledo volleyball team.
Kyle Smithey, from Elmwood High School, was a sophomore on the University of Findlay men's cross country team.
Derek Snowden, from Eastwood High School, was a freshman defender on the Owens Community College men's soccer team.
He played in 13 of Owens' 22 matches this season and had one goal and one assist.
Owens was 15-6-1.
Jady Snyder, from North Baltimore High School, was a freshman on the University of Findlay football team.
Jenna Stoner, from Bowling Green High School, is a sophomore on the women's basketball team at DePauw University.
Jonathan Stoner, from Bowling Green High School, is a senior on the Wittenberg football team.
He is second on the team with 37 receptions for 405 yards and five touchdowns.
Stoner was an honorable mention All-Ohio Athletic Conference pick this season.
Lorne Strausbaugh, from Elmwood High School, was a freshman on the Malone University cross country team.
Hayden Thomas, from Perrysburg High School, was a freshman on the Bluffton University football team.
He played in five games and had one assisted tackle.
Ashley Timmons, from Lake High School, was a freshman goalkeeper for the Spring Arbor University women's soccer team.
Becca Tudor, from Perrysburg High School, is a sophomore on the McNeese State University women's golf team.
Kendall Tudor, from Perrysburg High School, is a junior on the McNeese State University women's golf team.
Chelsea Watson, from Bowling Green High School, was a freshman on the Niagara University volleyball team.
She had 159 kills, a team-high 27 aces, 67 digs, and 36 blocks.
Hillary West, from Lake High School, was a redshirt sophomore on the Lourdes University cross country team.
She was named to he Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference all-academic team. She is a physical therapy major with a 3.963 cumulative grade-point-average.
West raced five times for Lourdes, turning in a season's best mark of 23:48 at the National Catholic Championships.
Bennett Westfall, from Perrysburg High School, was a freshman on the football team at Defiance College.
Mollie Whitacre, from Perrysburg High School, was a freshman on the Ohio University women's soccer team.
Whitacre played in 19 of Ohio's 20 matches, making 10 starts while logging 1,004 minutes. She scored one goal.
Ohio was 7-8-5 overall.
Aimee Whitmer, from Otsego High School, was a senior on the Bluffton University women's soccer team.
She started all 15 matches for Buffton, 5-10, this fall and was second on the team with six goals and 13 points.
Eric Wymer, a resident of North Baltimore, was a sophomore on the Ohio Northern men's cross country team. He attended Van Buren High School.
Emily Wyrick, from Perrysburg High School, was a freshman on the University of Toledo women's cross country team.
