Ben Hammer
Ben Hammer, from Elmwood High School, was named the Mid-American Conference West player of the week (April 22-28).
A fifth-year senior, Hammer hit .611 (11-for-18) with a team-tying best six runs scored, one double, a team-best two home runs and a squad-high 12 RBI in four games last week.
Hammer also had a 1.000 slugging percentage and a team-high .650 on-base percentage, He hit safely in every game with three multi-hit efforts.
The 2011 second-team All-MAC selection has hit safely in 15 of the 18 league contests, batting a team-high .379 (25-for-66) with a team-high 20 RBI.
Overall this spring, Hammer is hitting .335 (53-for-158) with 27 runs scored, a team-high 10 doubles, one triple, a squad-tying best three home runs, a team-high 37 RBI and five stolen bases in 41 starts in center field. He currently ranks second in the conference in RBI, sixth in total bases (74), seventh in slugging percentage (.468), eighth in batting average, 10th in hits (53) and tied for 10th in walks (21).
He has not made an error in 81 chances.
Casey Adamcik, from Perrysburg High School, is a senior on the Ohio Northern University track team.
At the Ohio Athletic Conference meet, Adamcik was fifth in the 3,0000-meter steeplechase, finishing in 11:56.59.
At the Marv Frye Invitational, Adamcik was sixtwh in the 5,000 (18:44.03).
Casey Akenberger, from Bowling Green High School, is a freshman on the Jacksonville State softball team.
She has made 16 appearances this season, starting eight games, and is 3-6 with 25 strikeouts in 49 innings.
Brooke Albright, from Eastwood High School, is a senior on the Otterbein College softball team.
Albright has started all 34 games for the Cardinals this season and is hitting .287 with four doubles, two triples, 12 runs scored and nine RBI.
Andrea Alt, from Perrysburg High School, is a redshirt freshman on the Bowling Green women's track and field team.
She won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a dual meet against Toledo in 10:55.98 and was seventh in the steeplechase at the Gina Relays at Hilldsdale College in 10:56.01.
Morgan Arnold, from Elmwood High School, is a sophomore on the University of Findlay softball team.
She has played in 23 of Findlay's 38 games and is hitting .236 with two doubles, three home runs and 17 RBI.
Mitchell Auchmuty, from Elmwood High School, is a senior thrower on the Capital University men's outdoor track and field team.
At the Ohio Athletic Conference championship, he was eighth in the discus (139-0), 13th in the shot put (45-1‚Ñ4) and 14th in the hammer throw (129-3).
At the Kenyon Spring Invitational, Auchmuty was second in the hammer (135-0), third in the discus (135-6), and fourth in the shot put (45-3).
At the All-Ohio Track and Field Division III championships he placed sixth in the discus (134-4) and 17th in the shot put (41-113‚Ñ4).
Samantha Auchmuty, from Elmwood High School, is a sophomore thrower on the Heidelberg University women's outdoor track and field team.
At the Ohio Athletic Conference championship, she was sixth in the javelin (107-2), 13th in the hammer throw (126-10) and 14th in the spot put (32-23‚Ñ4).
She placed sixth in the javelin throw (104-1) and 15th in the hammer throw (122-10) at the All-Ohio Track and Field Division III championships.
In the Bok Kahn Invitational, Auchmuty was ninth in the hammer throw (115-2) and sixth in the javelin (97-2).
Kylee Bernthisel, from Otsego High School, is a freshman on the Ashland University women's track and field team.
At the Ashland Alumni Open, Bernthisel was second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing in 11:39.44.
In the All-Ohio meet, she was 13th in the steeplechase in 11:38.26.
Alex Betts, from Elmwood High School, is a sophomore on the University of Findlay men's track and field team.
Reagan Briggs, from Elmwood High School, is a redshirt freshman for the Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team.
At the Spartan Invitational, Briggs had the 10th-best effort in the hammer throw in school history, throwing 121-10.
Brittany Dauterman, from Elmwood High School, is a senior on the University of Findlay softball team.
Dauterman has played in all 38 games for the Oilers and is hitting .371 with 16 doubles, two triples and four home runs. She is third on the team with 34 RBI and has scored 24 runs.
In the circle, Dauterman is 11-6 with a save, making 15 starts and pitching 11 complete games. In 99 innings, Dauterman has 75 strikeouts, 29 walks with a 3.25 ERA.
Tim DeCant, from Lake High School, was a senior on the Lourdes University baseball team.
DeCant played in 43 games, making 41 starts for Lourdes. He hit .238 with seven doubles, two triples, two home runs and nine RBI. DeCant was the team leader in stolen bases, going 24-for-24.
Lourdes finished 14-28-1.
Katie Dewyre, from Eastwood High School, is a junior on the Adrian College softball team.
She has started all 32 games for the Bulldogs and is second on the team in hitting (.417), runs scored (28), hits (43) and RBI (23). Dewyre leads the team with 57 total bases, including six doubles and four triples.
In last weekend's sweep of Albion, Dewyre was 3-for-6 with three RBI.
Lauren Diehl, from Perrysburg High School, is a freshman on the women's golf team at Bowling Green State University.
Taylor Dimmerling, from Perrysburg High School, is a senior on the Eastern Michigan University baseball team.
Dimmerling has made 16 appearances for the Eagles and is 2-0 with a 2.18 ERA in 202‚Ñ3 innings. He has struck out 12 and walked 11.
Cameron Gardner, from Perrysburg High School, is a junior on the University of Cincinnati women's track and field team.
Gardner was eighth in both the 100 (11.87) and 200 (24.99) and ran a leg on UC's second place 400 relay team (46.54) at the Jesse Owens Classic.
At the All-Ohio meet, Gardner was 12th in the heptathlon as she won the javelin (94-4), 200 (24.82), and was second in the shot put (37-21‚Ñ4 ).
Emily Gawronski, from Perrysburg High School, was a freshman on the Lourdes University softball team.
She played in nine games, making two starts.
Lourdes finished its season 11-21.
Brittany George, a senior at Elmwood High School, has signed a national letter of intent to play softball at Owens Community College.
A first-team All-Ohio selection in 2012, George has played shortstop and third base at Elmwood. She hit .455 with 28 runs, 28 RBI, three home runs, 45 hits and 15 doubles in 99 at bats as a junior. She was a first-team all-league and all-Wood County selection last season.
As a sophomore, George hit .392 with 27 runs, 21 RBI, 40 hits and eight doubles in 102 at bats. She was named first-team all-league and All-Wood County, and was honorable mention All-Ohio.
As a freshman, while playing third base, George hit .363 with 32 runs, 37 hits and seven doubles in 102 at bats. She was first-team all-county and all-league.
George plans to major in physical therapy at Owens.
Patrick Graham, from Bowling Green High School, was a senior on the Christian Brothers University men's basketball team.
He was a Gulf South Conference all-academic selection this season.
Graham has a 3.36 grade-point-average in biology and averaged 9.8 points per game and made 76 three-pointers on the season.
Kim Granata, from Perrysburg High School, is a freshman softball player at Kent State University.
She has played in 10 games, making one start, for the Golden Flashes.
Brady Groom, from Rossford High School, is a freshman on the Muskingum University track and field team.
Kris Hayward, from Eastwood High School, is a freshman outfielder on the University of Findlay baseball team.
He has played in 15 of Findlay's 40 games and has a triple and an RBI.
Amanda Hotaling, from North Baltimore High School, is a freshman on the University of Cincinnati women's track and field team.
Ryan Hotmer, from Lake High School, is a junior on the Saginaw Valley State baseball team.
He has played in 31 games for the Cardinals and is hitting .258 with two home runs and 17 RBI.
Jacob Ireland, from Bowling Green High School is a freshman pitcher at the University of Findlay.
Ireland has appeared in four games and is 1-0.
Garrett Jex, from Bowling Green High School, was a sophomore on the Lourdes University baseball team.
He played in 26 games, making 21 starts and hit .200 with three doubles, one triple and seven RBI.
Hunter Johnson, from Lake High School, is a freshman in sprints on Trine University's track and field team.
Ryan Kohlhofer, from Lake High School, is a freshman on the Defiance College baseball team.
He is hitting .289 with four doubles, 10 RBI and 15 runs scored. He has played in 28 of Defiance College's 30 games, making 26 starts.
Zach Kolvey, from Perrysburg High School, is a sophomore on the Adrian College baseball team.
He is hitting .324 with four doubles, a home run and 17 RBI. Kolvey has played in 17 games, making 10 starts.
Alyssa Kopp, from Bowling Green High School, is a freshman thrower on the track team at Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne.
In the Stan Lyons Invitational, hosted by Butler University, Kopp was third in the shot put (39-1) and third in the javelin (90-7).
In the Ball State Outdoor Invitational, Kopp was fourth in the javelin (93-4), seventh in the shot put (37- 1‚Ñ2 ) and 10th in the hammer throw (93-1).
Andrew Lee, from Elmwood High School, is a senior pitcher on the University of Findlay baseball team.
Lee has appeared in eight games for the Oilers and is 0-2.
Elizabeth Lemon, a Bowling Green resident, is a distance runner on the University of Toledo women's track and field team.
In the Gina Relays at Hillsdale College, Lemon was 13th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:13.18.
At the EMU Twilight Invitational she was seventh in the 5,000 (18:02.77).
Lemon was ninth in the 10,000 (37.51.46) at the Duke Invitational.
Trey Marsh, from Elmwood High School, is a freshman on the Tiffin University baseball team.
Mason Mayberry, from Bowling Green High School, is a freshman on the University of Findlay baseball team.
Mayberry has appeared in eight games and is 1-1.
Daniel McKinney, from Bowling Green High School, is a freshman on the University of Michigan baseball team.
Julia Metzger, from Perrysburg High School, was a senior on the University of Oregon women's tennis team.
She was the lone Oregon player to post a singles win on the first day of the Pac-12 championships. However, she lost in the round of 16 of the singles invitational.
Metzger finished her season with a team-best 17 dual singles wins, including six in conference play.
Overall she was 23-13 and she went 13-3 at No. 3 singles.
Oregon finished 13-10 overall.
Peter Munger, from Perrysburg High School, is a freshman on the Ohio Wesleyan baseball team.
He is 3-2 in 11 appearances, including five starts, with a 4.03 ERA. He has struck out 12 and walked 12 in 442‚Ñ3 innings.
Munger threw a four-hit shout in a 6-0 win over Wabash last Sunday. He struck out one and did not walk a batter.
